Ok, I'm not a christian, but taking down "Merry Christmas!" signs is pretty freaking stupid.
Honestly, why do people get pissed off about these things?
I may not be a christian, and I could care less about who ever was born that day, but no one is going to stop me from saying Merry Christmas!
Also, movie looks like it's going to cause a lot of raging and butthurt.
Please don't let this thread break into a giant argument.
Fucking atheists!
I heard during the night, they have meetings about blaspheming.
In most Christians' eyes: Atheism and sometimes Agnosticism = Satanism.
I said MOST not all. So don't act like I am saying that all Christians are like that.
Christmas hasn't been about Christ in years, I don't get the point.
Taking down Merry Christmas signs, reminds me of feminists who want to change "Men at Work" signs to something more gender appropriate.
Okay the only thing you can do is stop people from putting up stuff on government land. There is NOTHING stopping people from doing it on say, private property and there are alternatives, such as displaying other religious symbols as well to accommodate those who also reside in the town.
Also "Christians were the ones who founded this country" is a laughable comment seeing as they were also slave owners and Indian haters.
They make it seem like Atheists are these arrogant, belligerent assholes that hate every religion and want to tear down anything representing Jesus or God. Shit like this is the reason why Atheists are stereotyped so badly. This movie is just going to convince vulnerable people and gullible minds about a stereotyped opinion of Atheism. What they fail to realize is that any proper Atheist will never act in this demeanor. I am Atheist myself and I don't see any problem with people expressing their religion and speech. Sure, I disagree with the irrational crap and fundamentalist bullshit that goes on with religion and that's mainly because I am a very logical and factual person, but I would never take down signs and shit all over everything and tell people they are dumb and stupid. I understand the reasoning to be a "theist" and believe in a higher power, and I don't have a problem with that. I only act arrogant and argumentative when I get some know-it-all Christian fundamentalist prick that challenges my reasoning for being Atheist and tells me I am irrational and stupid for not having faith in anything. That's when I have a problem with them, because my reasons are more valid for being an Atheist than their reasons are for being Christian.
Atheism is just a very broad idea and there is really not an official rulebook or guideline for being Atheist, cause everyone of us is different in some way. But, a proper Atheist does not act like wanting to tear down every single thing about religion and is this controlling narcissistic prick and shoves his views down your throat to the point where you choke to death.
Disagreeing with an idea is one thing, but making actions based upon that is completely different.

Also, a ton of the founding father's were Atheists/Agnostics. Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, John Adams, James Madison, I could go on.
in case you guys didn't know, that's the baldwen brother that is now an evangelist.
so it's pretty obvious who's behind this and why (well it already does but that just makes sure it's definite)

actually not necessarily. a few, yes, not a ton. thomas paine wasn't strictly atheist, either.
really most of them were accused of atheism because they all felt very strongly that the separation of church and state was the only way to go, and everyone else who disagreed, disagreed in full. most of the politicians around the time that were accused of being atheists were instead religious. some of them abstained from church because well those were the people that hated them, but they still held the religion.

reminds me of my favorite, most humorous expression "very christian thing to do". because christian by the bible is absolutely horrifying. there's a lot of rather negative shit that takes place in the novel.
[editline]11:51PM[/editline]
also about the slave owner thing, christianity is actually okay with slavery. in fact in the bible it states something about it even being cool for the master to beat the slave into submission for motivation or something and if he lives the next day it's all good.
so like as long as you don't kill your slave you can have that slave.
Straight to DVD.

one thing you must consider is: this is a movie not a documentary.
in all actuality, in real life when this happens there are only two reasons: someone wants to threaten to sue and have an opportunity to make money, or someone doesn't want to get sued and have an opportunity to lose money.
it's like cable censorship in the US. now unless it's broadcast, no censorship is necessary: at all. any channel you pay for can be totally clear and censor free. then why do they censor, you ask? well, the station and station owners themselves do not want to risk getting sued or perhaps put out of airing because someone "high up" might get offended. seriously the FCC only applies to broadcast stations you can get for free with antennae.
[editline]11:57PM[/editline]
it's the same idea is what i'm trying to say.
no one is seriously offended by "MERRY CHRISTMAS" when they want a sign taken down. the only point to this movie is to dump fuel on the "atheists are evil" fire. thankfully the considerably terrible, LifeTime acting will keep it from going anywhere. of course, i'm sure that saddle back church in orange county is going to love the shit out of it and get all of their cultists to go and see it
This looks like a hilarious satire.
Except christ didn't get born on christmas, it's a wiccan holiday :v:
This is a terrible idea for a film, it's just silly.
this is not christian propaganda not one bit hmm no
Yes because every atheist absolutely hates Christmas and wants it wiped off the face of the earth.

i wouldn't go that far, many respect others beliefs.
Reminds me of this:

Seems kinda nice, but I hate the fact that they spoiled the end in the trailer...
Dammit, please tell me this isn't real or that it's one of those crappy Christian movies that people buy but no-one actually watches.

Its one of that crappy christmas movie no one watches except kids who have bad parents who hired the TV as a maid.
It'd be funny if he won the election. It'd be a cool twist.

My sentiments exactly
I love how overblown the "atheist" is in this movie. Silly religion, trolling people.
I love how they imply that all Atheists hate Christmas.
This looks like a hilarious satire.
it's not though it looks more like it's serious
The all-american Christmas: A pagan holiday, adopted by christians, ruined by capitalism.
Oh wow. This is totally not unbiased.
