ELK POINT, Alta. - There's been an oil spill northeast of Edmonton. The Energy Resources Conservation Board says the leak of heavy crude oil happened Monday at a pumping station on Enbridge Inc.’s (TSX:ENB) Athabasca pipeline about 24 kilometres southeast of Elk Point.Enbridge estimates about 230,000 litres leaked, but the ERCB's Darin Barter says that amount hasn't been confirmed.Barter says the pipeline has been shut in and the pumping station has been isolated. He also says the oil has not spilled into any waterways, nor were there any evacuations or injuries due to the leak. The ERCB is investigating.
Source: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/business/enbridge-pumping-station-spills-230000-litres-of-heavy-crude-northeast-of-edmonton-159643435.html Fuck eh
Nah, just pay a bunch of money and keep fucking the place up, its all good.
sounds like an excuse to raise gas prices
At least water tables haven't been hit should be a fairly straightforward and simple cleanup if unforeseen consequences don't occur.
Brilliant. Give the hippies more ammo to crash the world's economy with by demanding alternatives right this second without giving anyone five seconds to figure out just what said alternative might be!
Justify those damned pipelines now motherfuckers.
Justify those damned pipelines now motherfuckers.
*I'm just looking for a counter argument because they are beneficial* Well a new pipeline would logically be safer, more secure, stronger, and obviously new. This would let older pipelines to be decommissioned lowering the rates of failure as a whole, and of course there would be economic benefits.

Would certainly reduce some of the demand for oil.
Justify those damned pipelines now motherfuckers.
It's Alberta man, the oil must flow!
It's Alberta man, the oil must flow!
He who controls the oil, controls the universe!
This really isn't making me want to stay in Alberta.

Good news is, the more shit like this happens, the more investment that 'alternative energy' sees. Give it another fifty or so years, and I predict we'll have electric cars charged up off Fusion power stations. Problem solved.
unforeseen consequences
aw shit.

I was wondering why the price of gas went up today...
I was wondering why the price of gas went up today...
Because it's a feasible excuse? If someone farted near an oil drum the gas prices would go up.
