Q: Will there be advertisements built into the dashboard like Xbox 360? How many?
A: We designed the Xbox One dashboard to make your favorite games and entertainment even more front and center. Advertisements will not be visible on the home screen, so you only see what’s most important to you.
Seems some news are getting better about the Xbox One. Like how you can choose up to ten people on your friends list to share games with.

Uh, yeah, no. Bullshit. I doubt that will happen. I mean the 360's dashboard was littered with ads, I doubt MS will just do away with those advertisements.
Well that's a plus, still buying PS4 though.
Instead there's going to be a huge app in the center that delivers mountain dew and doritos to your doorstep.
Not a redeeming enough quality to come anywhere close to pulling it out of the hole Microsoft intends to bury it in. Of course, I honestly wouldn't care if they told me it shot rainbows out of the disc tray and it produced gasoline as a byproduct of running for long periods of time; it's just complete garbage the way that they've rigged this piece of shit.
When they say favorite games and entertainment more front and center, they're literally saying they're having ads. They just won't have the word advertisement on it.

Having promotions for shit you should buy is called advertisement.
instead, we'll just play advertisements before you start a game!
So instead of ads we'll be seeing all that fancy DLC that we gotta get for our amazing games.

The 360 dashboard has multiple screen things.

Being subjected to things we can purchase with real life money in an attempt to persuade us to buy it? If only there was a word in the English dictionary that could describe such a thing...
Kind of sad that this is what it's come to for consoles
I miss those times when consoles didn't even have dashboards or intrusive services, just games
didn't they say the same thing about X360 at first

Pestering?
Yeah theyll be in your games instead! :v:

They said the same thing about the 360. I'll bet that when they say "home screen" they aren't actually referring to the entire dashboard. It'll probably have ads on every tab but the log in tab.
"Well, that's one in a row for you, Wild Bill"

It's a shame it's accompanied with a bunch of extra bullshit.
Instead there's going to be a huge app in the center that delivers mountain dew and doritos to your doorstep.
the xbox one comes with a built in mountain dew dispenser

I wish.
I'd trust this about as far as I could throw it. Sure, no adds on launch day I can believe. How long is that going to last though?
How many times are they going to overhaul their interface? The 360 has done this several times, and each one brought progressively more useless shit to the screen.
OP you forgot to add "for now" at the end of your thread title
"I got 99 problems but ads ain't one"
It'll probably be like the 360 where it started with a single ad space :

And will end up with more ad space on the screen than actual game related stuff

I vaguely remember Microsoft's retort on people paying for Live on the 360, and it was "There won't be ads!"
Now, of course, it's apparent they didn't uphold that forever. I doubt they will this time.
Note: There's going to be a shit ton of advertisements everywhere else.
I liked that Dashboard. It was straight forward with everything.
It's sad that the only positive thing that I've heard so far is that they're not going to put ads on the device that you must pay a subscription to use.
Something like this really shouldn't be a selling point.

It was also ugly and very slow.

So are the newer ones for that matter.
