One of China’s richest men squares off against President Obama in a Washington federal court today, challenging the US leader’s refusal, on national security grounds, to let him build a wind farm in the US.
“We are suing the president because we do not accept his finding that we are a national security threat. It is not true,” says Wu Jialiang, CEO of Ralls Corp., whose deal to buy land for a wind farm in Oregon near a US Navy weapons training facility ran into a presidential veto in September.
US and Chinese lawyers say it is unlikely Ralls will win its case, but that the high profile challenge is a landmark in Chinese companies’ increasingly bold strategy of investing abroad. It could also serve as a test of Chinese allegations that US investment rules are biased against Chinese companies.
Yeah. Maybe it was because it was next to a fucking Naval weapons training facility.
They kinda need a lot of land for that shit.

Just saying, the government doesn't have to sell you public land lol.
they're just taking the piss
Just seriously man. I know you're trying to prove something, but the government never said you were a security risk, they just don't want any wind turbines near their weapons testing facilities.
It's a HUGEEEE Liability.
They're pretty butthurt.
SANY
Uh... Isn't the veto right in your constitution? Doesn't that mean it's above whatever laws the Chinese might base their complain on?
He's is obviously protecting our air from the commies, gobama.
Damn commies trying to steal our wind!
So how close is this Navy facility?
also [del]The Christian Science Monitor?[/del] nvm they seem nice
Ralls was seeking to place Sany-made wind turbines at the Oregon installations after purchasing land and other rights earlier this year. The assets consist of four locations, three of which are near, and one is within, restricted Navy airspace, the Treasury Department, which heads CFIUS, said Sept. 28.
There we go. 3 near, and one within restricted Navy airspace. Not sure if restricted airspace means restrictions on ground as well.

I would block it too. It's sketchy as fuck. Not only because it's right next to a Navy base, but...
It's China.
Building a wind farm.
In fucking Oregon.
On the other side of the world.
How the fuck are they planning on getting the power back to China?
And even if they can, how the fuck is that profitable?

Ha, my guess is they would sell the power to the local area not send it back to China.

He corrected his post.
Most people only take a glance at the name and assume the worse :v:
Gibe windfarm pls I REPORTE YU
The President should just tell him to blow it out his ass.
I want an artists representation of the headline.
The background is an apocalyptic inferno asparagus-field of destroyed wind-turbine stubs with broken turbines-leaves flung and stuck at the ground. In the foreground a mid 1800's dressed but ragged Obama fights the futuristic, chinese electrobot with his veto-hammer.

I would imagine something as tall as a wind turbine would pose a significant threat to low-flying aircraft, of which military craft tend to be.
What judge is gonna rule against the POTUS?
SANY? Parent company of Panasanic and Mitsubashi, perhaps?
Also, this wind farm would work for six entire seconds before it all came tumbling down.

They're going to compress the wind into a liquid and haul it back to china in LNG ships.
