What happens when you cross Being John Malkovich with NES classic The Legend of Zelda? You get the terrifying Oculus Rift demo seen in video below the break. The mod is currently just the game's overworld and its first dungeon, but there are plans to scale up the whole game to VR playability by March of this year (yes, for free -- this is Nintendo's property, after all). Should you already have an Oculus headset and a strong constitution, the demo's available right here.
Wait why is the copyrighted 1956? Were there even video games in 1956? :v:
Hell I'd play it.

Might be a bitch to play if something attacks you from behind since the game is built arous being able to see the entirety of the room at once.

It's an 8, not a 5.

Gimme a Dark Souls style OR game, and we'll really be in business.
Imagine this creepy bastard towering above you:

I wish they would have kept both screens the entire video, wanted to watch it using the cross eye trick.
The sword is so blurry it looks like he's fighting with a censored dick
For a channel that seems to do a lot of LP stuff, he sure does have completely shit mic audio.

I guess it's just my bad eyesight, my bad
has this guy never played Zelda before?

He was speaking? I thought that "rmrmrmrmrmrmrmrmrmrmmrmr" was part of the game.
I really hate these loud dubstep intros.
ew, texture filtering on low-res sprites
I always figured first person Zelda would look like Minecraft.
I always figured first person Zelda would look like Minecraft.
That depends on how much effort you put into it. If you just toss the tiles on blocks and call it a day, sure, it'll look like minecraft.
Ideally one would model simple surfaces that fit the textures, instead of flat everything.
I think the whole thing would look vastly better if the sprites weren't aliased the way they are.
If they did this for twilight princess and ocarina of time I'd sell my house, buy an oculus and play it in the woods forever.

That or some vertigo-inducing 'Shadow of the Colossus'.

Looks decent enough; the appearance, like everyone said, doesn't look that good. Gotta ask, how open are Oculus games to modding? Because if the sprites were all laid out in folders, then the problems cited here would be pretty much fixed. Another problem would be the mentioned lack of view, so maybe even a small visual of the room in the top left/right? That's probably a pipedream, but it's good to mention.

First video game was in 1947, I think

I couldn't even watch it for very long, if we don't count the shitty and loud dubstep intro, the videos music is louder than his mic audio. What the fuck man :v:
This looks like a bad trip sequence.
WHY ARE THEY NOT USING NEAREST NEIGHBOUR TEXTURE SCALING
MY GOD THIS LOOKS TERRIBLURRY

How easy modding isn't effected by Oculus Rift support. Any engine can add Oculus support and the engine makes modding possible/impossible.

I guess my question is, can this game be modded to fix the sprites? I suppose we'll find out when it releases.
.
I think I just had a techgasm
Eugh, this is so lazy and awful. Not turning off texture filtering, for one thing. But most of all it's all just fucking Minecraft blocks. The sprites were meant to represent objects, not be tiled like ground textures. Low res modeling isn't that difficult.
