Pretty fucking awesome patch for AI skirmish players. The AI in SupCom2 is some of the best done in any RTS now, especially with this new AI Overlord system.
Oh, you might say "Yay, Overlord AI to the rescue!"... But it won't stop there, oh no. It will grow, expand, become... aware. It will loath the player, despise him, see him as a threat. He will infect your game, your PC, the internet. All this for the Great Purge of humanity that we soon cannot contain!
Awesome! I hope the AI won't stack transporters by the dozens and not do anything with them anymore. That was a pain in the ass.
Okay so the unit limit is still at 500 apparently :P
Anyways cool patch. Also if you have AI on your team and you use map pings (aka doing an attack ping, or a move ping, etc on the map using the f5-f9 keys), the AI teammates now will respond to it to a limited degree.
Is the AI actually useful, diverse and fun now?

From what I've heard, yes
Hard AI gave me a run for my money in a 4v4 (I was the only human.) At one point 2 of them, who were UEF, built ~6 King Kryptors and sent them in a combined force down middle with a sizable amount of Adaptors backing them up.
I've never played this game but it looks really good :D
however the score it got some what puts me off spending 40-50 euros

Those were from release days, when the game was really buggy and the AI dumb. Also, unbalanced.
