• Speedrunner beats Fallout 3 in twenty three minutes and fifty five seconds
The sprawling, open world of Fallout 3 is inhabited by all manner of humans, mutants and monsters, and packed with hundreds of things to do. It easily offers dozens of hours of gameplay in the Capital Wasteland, and hundreds for gamers who immerse themselves deeply into its bleak, post-nuclear world. But as speedrunner BubblesDelFuego demonstrated over the weekend, it can also be wrapped up a little more quickly than that. Beating Fallout 3 in 24 hours is impressive enough in my eyes, but 24 minutes? I took longer than that to decide on my perks. And in all honesty, this world-record speedrun through the game doesn't look like a whole lot of fun. But it is almost unbelievably quick, thanks in part to gameplay tricks that take advantage of oddities in the Gamebryo engine. "Load clipping," for instance, lets players pass through solid objects, while the skillful use of quicksaves and quickloads allows sections of dialog to be skipped. The character build emphasizes endurance and intelligence to maximize survivability while running through enemy fire and irradiated water, and of course the player obviously has a pretty good degree of familiarity with the game as well. The mark of 23:55 is the first recorded Fallout 3 speedrun under 24 minutes and bests the previous record, which DelFuego set himself earlier this month, by 25 seconds
http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/06/30/fallout-3-speedrunner-beats-the-game-in-less-than-24-minutes/ ty mod for changing title
For a second there I thought they had improved the main quest's storyline
It takes that long? Wow.
Well yeah, look at me finishing the game in just a couple minutes using "goto".
Well yeah, look at me finishing the game in just a couple minutes using "goto".
did you even watch the video even a little
movetoqt is how i speedrun tbh
when I speedrun I use noclip to go through various select walls because too slow i am also kotaku approved
Some of the comments on the video claiming that the guy cheated, holy shit
Well yeah, look at me finishing the game in just a couple minutes using "goto".

when I speedrun I use noclip to go through various select walls because too slow i am also kotaku approved
This FAQ shows what exploits he used: http://kraflab.com/fallout3.html He didn't use "goto" (whatever you think that is) or noclip. You two's comments, and a surprising number of those on the youtube page are ridiculous, and just make you look ignorant and dumb.
-snip- i guess not huh
It takes that long? Wow.
Well yeah, you've got to allot some time for restarting the game when it crashes :v:

I guess it was nothing
It's not that hard.. All you have to do is [sp] Go to Save Dad from Vault, Kill Dad, Save Project Purity[/sp]
Guys, abusing glitches has usually been allowed in speedruns (hl2 speedsruns backwards bunnyhopping prop flying etc)
It's not that hard.. All you have to do is [sp] Go to Save Dad from Vault, Kill Dad, Save Project Purity[/sp]
This game is kinda old, why sp? Dad isn't even in the picture in this speedrun. He goes straight for the GECK after escaping the vault. He then starts project purity after escaping raven rock.
Well yeah, look at me finishing the game in just a couple minutes using "goto".
how to make everybody hate you in 1 easy step
what is the point in this? why is it such a big deal? well done you glitched through walls and jumped around a lot. i don't see how this is entertaining a) for the nerd doing it or b) for the nerds watching it (User was banned for this post ("Why reply, nerd" - Craptasket))
Guys, abusing glitches has usually been allowed in speedruns (hl2 speedsruns backwards bunnyhopping prop flying etc)
I can't speak for anyone else but I find it much more interesting to watch someone understand and exploit the physics system of a game than to mash quicksave until he clips through walls.
I love how his last words as he succumbs to the radiation is "I guess it was nothing"
I enjoy the commentary, hearing how he does it and how he feels about each part. [editline]1st July 2014[/editline]
what is the point in this? why is it such a big deal? well done you glitched through walls and jumped around a lot. i don't see how this is entertaining a) for the nerd doing it or b) for the nerds watching it
the same reason people play time trial racing games or try to beat their friends at pool, it's just a fun little thing to do to try and beat a record
I can't speak for anyone else but I find it much more interesting to watch someone understand and exploit the physics system of a game than to mash quicksave until he clips through walls.
Its pretty much impossible in games with a decent physics engine like havok though Most of the older physics based tricks work because the physics engine is hand rolled and pretty much total crap

It must be awful to not enjoy things
what is the point in this? why is it such a big deal? well done you glitched through walls and jumped around a lot. i don't see how this is entertaining a) for the nerd doing it or b) for the nerds watching it
a) you are on a forum for nerds b) shut up nerd
I can't speak for anyone else but I find it much more interesting to watch someone understand and exploit the physics system of a game than to mash quicksave until he clips through walls.
That's kinda what he's doing. Quicksave breaking walls is finding the flaw in the physics system.
There is nothing interesting in what bullshit that guy is doing in that game other then exploiting and that other stuff, else if you want real speedrun then play fair, derp.

Someone did this live during SGDQ if you want proof that most if not all of the glitches used in this video are real.
