Satanists Want Own Statue Outside of Oklahoma Capitol Building
The Republican-controlled Legislature in this state known as the buckle of the Bible Belt authorized the privately funded Ten Commandments monument in 2009, and it was placed on the Capitol grounds last year despite criticism from legal experts who questioned its constitutionality. The Oklahoma chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit seeking its removal.
But the New York-based Satanic Temple saw an opportunity. It notified the state's Capitol Preservation Commission that it wants to donate a monument and plans to submit one of several possible designs this month, said Lucien Greaves, a spokesman for the temple.
"We believe that all monuments should be in good taste and consistent with community standards," Greaves wrote in letter to state officials. "Our proposed monument, as an homage to the historic/literary Satan, will certainly abide by these guidelines."
Man this is going to be good.
Hail Satan!
Lucien Greaves just sounds like a Satanist's name.
It's only fair.
Well, to each their own, I guess.
Yeah, the satanists I've talked to have all been insanely deluded in their views but this isn't really bad or anything
Watch it be a giant dong.
Yeah, the satanists I've talked to have all been insanely deluded in their views but this isn't really bad or anything
satanism is just hedonistic atheism with a hint of objectivist philosophy so yea they are slightly deluded.
satanism is just hedonistic atheism with a hint of objectivist philosophy so yea they are slightly deluded.
I'm not saying that is deluded in itself, it's just that... they seem to have really weird reasoning.
Like how the one I talked to asserted that I myself am a satanist because I play music?!
satanism is just hedonistic atheism with a hint of objectivist philosophy so yea they are slightly deluded.
ayn rand with horns
so normal ayn rand

The Satanic Temple is actually not affiliated with LaVeyan Satanism, it seems. Just skimming over their website, but it seems that they believe that embracing Satan is about living a more refined and intelligent lifestyle.
Satanism is not mindless abandon and depravity, but a philosophy that drives us to lead fruitful and dignified, epicurean lives. Satan, the symbolic force of design that would urge humanity toward refined pleasures of the Arts and Sciences.
Seems like they read the Satanic Bible but decided to take in it the opposite direction.
Freedom for/from every religion, or none.
Sucks that it's usually interpreted as: Freedom for Christianity, fuck the rest!
ayn rand with horns

So I'm not the only one who has made the connection of Ayn Rand with Anton Lavey.
satanism is just hedonistic atheism with a hint of objectivist philosophy so yea they are slightly deluded.
I believe these guys are Theistic Satanists, not LaVeyan Satanists, which is what you described.
Theistic Satanists worship the Christian Satan, while LaVeyan Satanists are pretty much hedonistic Atheists who do not worship Satan as a deity, but as a symbol of pride and other things that represent their belief system.
It just seems very odd for a LaVeyan Satanist to want to erect a monument to a deity they don't even believe in.

But Christianity is the right religion so it deserves more recognition than those unrealistic myths.
I dont see this getting a good response from the public, Most people ik from Oklahoma are christians and would have a shit fit if this gets put up. Im not saying its right to put any religous monument up on public grounds, but why fuel the fire with gasoline?

Because if the government can publicly endorse a religion by putting up a monument, it should equally represent all religions or none at all.
At least, that's what I imagine the Satanist's are trying to say.

idk, I think its more about pissing off christians tbh, as a more alternative motive

That would actually be a toned-down Ayn Rand, as we all know that this is Ayn Rand's true form:
idk, I think its more about pissing off christians tbh, as a more alternative motive
What is there to gain from just trying to piss off Christians?
This is obviously a political move on the Satanist's part.
idk, I think its more about pissing off christians tbh, as a more alternative motive
yea it's done specifically to piss off the christians. fuck them if they think they get to be the only one to endorse their religion on government property.
idk, I think its more about pissing off christians tbh, as a more alternative motive
So we should just let the Christians do whatever they want to the government because asking for fair representation will piss them off?
Satan isnt even a bad dude tbh, and if the stories are true and if he was the snake in Edab than he kind of gave us free will.
He rebel against god even though it was obvious he would lose, he was like Rocky except Apollo sent him to hell.

Well Satanists and Christians are the exact opposite it woukd make sense they would want to piss each other off
So we should just let the Christians do whatever they want to the government because asking for fair representation will piss them off?
It is only going to agrivate the people living in Oklahoma, the Satanists are from across the country. There are a lot of Christians in Oklahoma and its only going to piss people off

He killed Job's(i think that was his name) families and ruined his life because God told him to because God was trying to win some dumb bet with satan.
No seriously
Well Satanists and Christians are the exact opposite it woukd make sense they would want to piss each other off
Why do Christians have the special right not to be pissed off? Maybe their monument pisses the satanists off too.

So?
Well Satanists and Christians are the exact opposite it woukd make sense they would want to piss each other off
Without Christians, Satanists would not have a religion.
Speaking of course of Theistic Satanists. LaVeyan Satanists would just need to come up with a different name.
