A 39-year-old father -- the subject of a previous child abuse investigation -- is being accused of three felonies in the abuse of his 2-year-old son, who suffered "deep second-degree burns" to his hand last week, police said.
Dante Roberson, a San Leandro resident, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at the Hayward Hall of Justice, where he is expected to face charges of child abuse, torture and aggravated mayhem, authorities said.
He was arrested Friday -- one day after the toddler had his skin burned off in water boiling at temperatures as high as 150 degrees, Sgt. Mike Sobek said.
Since then, the child has undergone two reconstructive plastic surgeries on his hand at a San Francisco hospital, Sobek said.
He was injured sometime after 5 p.m. Thursday, when Roberson was with him during his scheduled monthly visit at a home on the 2300 block of Jamaica Way, west of Doolittle Drive, authorities said.
Police said the child's mother, who has custody of the toddler, was not at home when the incident occurred.
Doctors told police that the child's injuries are not consistent with Roberson's version of how his son was hurt, Sobek said.
The toddler's injuries were consistent with "forcible submersion" in boiling water for about five seconds, he said.
"He said that the child put his hand in the hot water, but as the doctor noted, if you touch hot water, you pull your hand back pretty quickly," he said.
On Friday, hospital officials contacted Child Protective Services and police, who took Roberson into custody, authorities said.
In 2009, the child's mother accused Roberson of abusing the same boy, who then was 9 months old, but there was not enough evidence to charge him, Sobek said.[/release]
I hope he gets a, uh, fair trial.
wow arch cunt of the week right here
Put him in prison for a year or two and hopefully he'll learn something.

"Prison sucks"
Why won't "FOX News Horrible Parenting Month" come to an end already, these are just getting more and more painful to read..
Lets put his hands in boiling lemon juice after we cut them. See how he likes it. I hate lowlifes like this guy. What reason could you POSSIBLY have for harming an infant?
"Prison sucks"
Yeah it's hard time.. doing hard time. Should encourage people to learn from their mistakes. And prisoners also play a role when prison sucks.

Really now
Really now
Was just about to comment on that.
You'd need to be something like 50 or 60 thousand feet above sea level. Probably more, I'm not doing the actual math. Well outside of breathable atmosphere. :P

Yeah i'm sure he won't give a shit even if he went to prison, it doesn't automatically rehabilitate you. In fact most just become even bigger assholes when they get out.
Really now
Haha, I went "rrrriiiiiight" when I read that.
Maybe they live in the stratosphere.
Oh man, I've had my feet covered in boiling oil before and I know how painful that was.

Damn straight it doesn't automatically rehabilitate you. I would be a feel to assume so seeing how packed the prisons are in the U.S. at least.

I'm assuming this is in Fahrenheit, being from an American source. Which is about 65 degrees Celcius. Way too low to be boiling, but still enough to give some nasty scalding over time.

In 5 seconds? I wash my ass with 65C.

And also "Prison inmates tend to dislike child abusers quite a bit."
Also "My anus is about five times wider than it was before I went in."
You know you're a coward when you hurt a 2 year old.
