http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34441201
Turkish F-16 fighter jets were scrambled after a Russian warplane violated Turkey's air space on Saturday, the foreign ministry said. Russia said the incident was a "navigational error" and that it has "clarified" the matter to Ankara. Turkish jets patrolling the border were also "harassed" by an unidentified plane on Sunday, Turkey said.
http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/news_123392.htm
Allies expressed their deep concern with regard to the Russian military build-up in Syria and especially the attacks by the Russian Air Force on Hama, Homs, and Idlib which led to civilian casualties and did not target Da’esh. Allies call on the Russian Federation to immediately cease its attacks on the Syrian opposition and civilians, to focus its efforts on fighting ISIL, and to promote a solution to the conflict through a political transition. Russian military actions have reached a more dangerous level with the recent violations of Turkish airspace on 3 October and 4 October by Russian Air Force SU-30 and SU-24 aircraft in the Hatay region. The aircraft in question entered Turkish airspace despite Turkish authorities’ clear, timely and repeated warnings. In accordance with NATO practice, Turkish fighter aircraft responded to these incursions by closing to identify the intruder, after which the Russian planes departed Turkish airspace. Allies strongly protest these violations of Turkish sovereign airspace, and condemn these incursions into and violations of NATO airspace. Allies also note the extreme danger of such irresponsible behaviour. They call on the Russian Federation to cease and desist, and immediately explain these violations. Allies call on the Russian side to take all necessary measures to ensure that such violations do not take place in the future. The security of the Alliance is indivisible, and Allies stand in strong solidarity with Turkey. We will continue to follow the developments on the South-Eastern borders of NATO very closely.
Wonder how crowded the airspace in Syria has become? You have most of the NATO countries, much of of the Arab League, a few from the far east, Oceania, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Russia.
I love how much shit has happened in the middle east for the past few years, then all of a sudden, once Russia jumps in, everyone is having a heart attack.
What's next? A strongly worded letter to Putin? That he will promptly wipe his ass with?
Russia really needs to work out their navigation systems, they keep having these navigational errors.
What's next? A strongly worded letter to Putin? That he will promptly wipe his ass with?
I would really pay if Putin posts a video where he will read out the official letter, then squat down, take a dump and wipe with the said letter.
Russia really needs to work out their navigation systems, they keep having these navigational errors.
makes you wonder how they can screw up their glonas system so much when its a copy of GPS anyways
Considering that the jet went on a bombing run and flew into Turkish airspace on it's way back, I understand both sides here. There absolutely is a reason for Turkey to be concerned, since the aircraft that broke it's airspace might have been carrying leftover payload. On the other hand, that close to the border it might just get really tight to maneuver properly and carry out all the standard evasive protocols. Number of times our jets almost violated/blatantly flew into other countries' airspace on purpose really doesn't help matters where it can be a genuine accident though.
"Navigational errors"

And the whole "not budging until intercepted" is usually how Russian incursions into other air spaces seem to go. I guess it can be considered a biased source since it's a NATO source but like you said, Russia's history doesn't help their side of the story either.
Jet pilots must think they're the shit because they act tough all the time.
OH! They're in for trouble now!
What's next? A strongly worded letter to Putin? That he will promptly wipe his ass with?
What do you want them to do, shoot the plane down?

Flexing muscles?

As far as I'm concerned turkey shouldn't even be a part of NATO. Russia can do whatever they want with turkey and everybody knows it.
As far as I'm concerned turkey shouldn't even be a part of NATO. Turkey is no friend of Russia, never was, but shitting on them would be all sorts of definitions for "counter-productive", even beyond the possibility of them going out of their way to hinder our operations in Syria.
So they're telling us all not to go in there but outright commanding Putin to?

And really, I side with Russia on this one. Turkey is doing fuck all for their people and doing fuck all about ISIS so if russia wants to tell them to stand aside and like the real men take care of it, then I'm not going to say "But Turkey's rights to air space!!". No... Fuck Turkey's airspace.
As far as I'm concerned turkey shouldn't even be a part of NATO.
I felt like I was on /r/worldnews for a moment.
Thanks for that, I hope Russia invades Turkey too, it'd be really fun and beneficial for everybody involved :)
way to miss the point, kid ))))
yes, shoot the plane down shoot all the planes down
Regardless of how many billions have been spent for just an event, no first or second world country would ever have the balls to do something like that.
Regardless of how many billions have been spent for just an event, no first or second world country would ever have the balls to do something like that.
Thanks to the first and second world wars for that. Assholes dickwaving all over everyone is bad, but any possibility of an active fighting between major powers is just that much worse. Come on Turkey, quit crying like a baby and violate Russian airspace. We won't do shit too.
So what ? Russia found out Turkey has been sending weapons to ISIS since last year. Aren't they supposed to bomb ISIS ? /s
What's this even supposed to do? Flexing muscles?
Something like that, though it seems really really stupid to do it over an active warzone
Meanwhile Obama signs a couple more unauthorized drone airstrike missions in Pakistan and no one bats an eyelid.
Stop picking on the little Turks Russia
Oh, wow, they condemned them for their actions. ...okay? A condemnation means nothing.
