A mother and daughter newspaper delivery team who were mistakenly shot by Los Angeles police hunting for a fugitive former cop will get a new pickup truck courtesy of the department.
Looks like they're going to have to deal out another truck to the other driver they nearly killed as well,

I wouldn't except it and sue them.
The truck is the bare minimum they could do, what about any medical bills they're going to get?
lard
I wouldn't except it and sue them.
I would accept it and sue for pain and suffering. I mean they did attempt to murder them.
"mistaken identity", "accidentally shot", whatever you wanna call it. They should have gotten a positive ID before firing shots and pit maneuvering them.
putting a bandaid
on a large knife wound
I'd rather have these cops fired than a new truck.
I'm sure they'll accept it but I don't think they'll quit pursuing the officers that attempted to murder them. I hope the department doesn't, either.

The Los Angeles Retard Department?
This whole situation has gotten crazy. It would take more than a new truck to compensate for what happened.

I'd take it then sue them

This is starting to give this guy justification

snip automerge ninja
And that's supposed to keep them from suing the police? Pfft, fat chance.
If they sue them they'd probably be able to get 50 fucking new trucks.
That's a stupid gift. They were almost killed as innocent citizens.
They could receive a multi-million dollar settlement + they could have the officers shot reprimanded.
I wouldn't take the truck.

They'd see that, since you accepted the new vehicle, you were accepting it as reasonable compensation. So the best method is to refuse it and file a lawsuit. You could easily get much more than the value of the vehicle and medical bills out of them for this.
Not saying that what the police did was okay, but apparently the truck was "driving suspiciously" near someone's home who was threatened by the ex-cop.

Papers flying out the window sure is suspicious.
At 5:20 am with headlights out and tinted windows.
None of that excuses opening fire after running them off the road without even confirming that it's who you're looking for.
Man, I'd be fucking scared if I was driving around in a black pickup
goddamn, are they shooting every black ridgeline on the road?
Also, how could you confuse a mother and her daughter for a jacked up ex-cop on the run?
I'm surprised nobody said this could just be a PR stunt like they did in the EA thread.
I wonder if this is part of Dorner's plan. Just make the LAPD so trigger happy that people no longer wish to support them in any way possible.
it would seem that after all these years, the LAPD is still shit
That poor, innocent Honda Ridgeline ;_;
eh if its not someone publishing a bad game then clearly it is done in good faith
Probably has more to do with the fact that everyone is discussing whether or not they should even accept it.
Wouldn't insurance just pick up the cost for a new car?
Plus the previously mentioned lawsuit that is a huge goldmine compared to this
