Oh god when I look at the Mafia 2 cover image I think back on my god damned hype towards the game. I thought it was going to be an incredible, great game and a successful sequel to the last game
now I feel depressed and I don't want to think about it
I bought it with all the DLCs and you all can just suck my dick.

I quite enjoyed it, but only because the DLC's make it worth it.

A lot of people have vastly mixed reviews about this game, it's a case of either you hate it, or you love it.

It wasn't good but I enjoyed it.
This game was a linear game that tried to be a sandbox.

I don't think that is what made the game bad though. The first game tried "to be a sandbox" as much as the second game, but it had actually had a sandbox mode.
What made it bad was the story (the abrupt ending for example), how much stuff the developers cut from the actual game and made it into DLC's (sidemissions from Joes Adventures for example, the whole freeride/mode mode), etc
The game lacked a lot of things which made it bad, but it had its moments (I liked the part when you drove back to the city with Vito and that other bad guy after you had buried a body).
Mafia 1 is a tremendously great game.
Mafia 2 on the other hand is terrible.

When you compare it to the first one I agree, but if you consider it a standalone game it's decent.
I only bought it because its -75%
This game isn't worth the money.
There's no replay value nor multiplayer.
They also didn't add freeride.
The first Mafia is worth it though.

Is the DLC worth $5 if someone wants more Mafia II gameplay?

I wish the first one was just remade with newer graphics and engines and such.
It was fun, had violence, had a story, had multiple stories in fact. One ending though.
It was great.
Mafia 2.. Drive here, drive there, pick up here, drop there, shoot.. shoot.. shoot.. drive home, 2 weeks later. Drive here.
I liked Mafia 2 but it was a dissapointment.
Does the sale make the DLC worth a purchase or does it still suck even without the dissapointment of spending too much?

Oh my, please buy Mafia. It has an incredible story and for the price definetly worth it.
I bought Mafia 1 on Saturday, so far enjoying it as much as I did Mafia 2, apart from the story which is better. Quite annoyed about the sale though, I could have waited and saved some money

Mafia 2 certainly isn't terrible, it just was overhyped and isn't any better than the original.
