So for Christmas I received a wacom tablet and Scott Pilgrims Precious Little Box-set and I fell in love with it. So I decided to test out my tablet for the first time by replicating the cover of Book 1. There is the complete drawing. Also the Sketch and the Clean outline by themselves. And for anyone interested the actual sized drawings. WARNING: Bloody Massive http://filesmelt.com/dl/Scott_Pilgrim_LineVector.png So any C&C?
I don't support copying. I used to do stuff like that when I was seven years old. draw your own stuff, this doesn't even deserve C&C because you had the original artwork infront of you when you drew this.
no it's not. higher your standards
Though if he didn't trace and it's his first drawing you gotta agree it's pretty impressive.
OP is too littered with useless sketches and shit for such a little quick thing. nnoo it's quite shit even for first. Especially for first tablet drawing. Theres no need to explain why, it's just bad. Something a 10 year old would do, alltough bit messier. There's a reason you need to be profecient with traditional arts before you move over to digital. Idunno drawspace.com or something?
No, no it's not. It's a cartoon. Cartoon first drawings are never, ever serious.
Style for you, excuse for everyone else.
Well it was my first try at any kind of serious drawing, but I do appreciate what people have said about it. In future I'll try to be more original and maybe try different styles.
There's difference between style and style. One is with a foundation of realism, other is just shit and giggles. The difference is obvious.
Uh... it's a style, dude.
for what it's worth, i think the scott pigrim style is absolutely horrendous and i can't see why anybody likes it
Couldn't agree more
There's difference between style and style. One is with a foundation of realism, other is just shit and giggles. The difference is obvious.
Yeah, I can tell when a cartoon has started with realistic proportions, and then on a certain level, it is entirely altered. That looks so much better than having joints that don't go a certain way, arms that aren't the same length, and 3 times bigger eyes than you need because it's a style.
ITT People shit on Scott Pilgrim instead of actually critiquing OP It's alright, not great. Lines are messy, awkward. Coloring is oversimplified, jacket is a tad too dark.
Heh. Low quality work and ultra cool author's sign look very impressive.
Yeah. I don't even bother to sign mine anymore.
Have a go at drawing something like the gorillaz tank girl thing
i don't know how to sign fancy, my sign looks like a shit tag or something, with the anarchist A in JAM and all.
Hell, it's considerably better than I can do. Yes, the style is a bit childish, but in a fun and relatable way. You did a pretty good job of recreating the style as far as I can tell, and since this was just a simple test of your new tablet I don't see how anybody can hold you imitating art that you enjoy against you, but in the future things like this might be better suited to the "creative works that don't deserve a thread" thread.

wait, it IS the pilgrims art style? Holy fuck it's worst I've seen.
All the people that have been rating posts dumb that are only being truthful are all incompetents who have no idea how 'art' works or how CC works. I've never seen any of you here before and your probably just OP friends come to save the day. Listen people, you can trace once in a while but its not art. I've traced before but I hold it in the same respect as dot-to-dots. Stop getting buthurt. Also is that done in flash? if it is I'm gonna slap your shit for misusing such a beautiful and enabling program for ass like this.
not really a trace.
Sorry, I assumed it was impossible to mimic the terrible style of Scott Pilgrim without tracing...
It looks fine to me, and the line art is beautiful.
That right hand is fucking huge. Like Hellboy's or something.
Isn't signing a copy of someone elses work, like, plagiarism?
It looks fine to me, and the line art is beautiful.
I've seen mold on my bread have more developed sense of aesthetics than you.
I like the newer Scott Pilgrim style better than the old. It has greatly improved.
It looks fine to me, and the line art is beautiful.
the line art is awful

I hate Scott's art style. It's like anime, but ugly.
