I'm so happy to have lived in the beginning of the peak of 3D gaming + the beginning of going past uncanny valley in games
and the fact that Steam has REALLY changed game history by a huge margin by introducing itself to Mac and then Linux.

Motion sensing and virtual reality is part of the future in gaming, far more than many might realize.
I just noticed that EA was almost entirely omitted from the games listed. The sims was the only game published by EA on the list. Kinda weird that such a giant conglomerate would have such little impact on a list like this.
Uncharted?
Uncharted?
I suspect Uncharted wasn't shown because it's very similar in time frame and influence to The Last of Us. While Uncharted was the first series to really make the PS3 a must own The Last Of Us is considered a masterpiece of cinematic style gaming and writing.
I wish Call of Duty would go silent for a good 7 years, just drop off the face of the Earth. Then rise again with another Call of Duty 4, refined, polished, balanced, and fun.
No total annihilation, no GTA san andreas, no tomb raider

This is a showcase of video games throughout its course of history, not an actual history of video games. I was hoping to hear more about behind the scenes kind of things.

It's worth it though, 7 years of progress on other game fronts, and the chance to enjoy call of duty again.

Surprised he didn't mention The Walking Dead, seeing how he also mentioned old adventure games like Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and Zork. Oh well.
Pretty cool, made me thinking how awesome it would be if someone made like a proper long documentary series like this. 60's and 70's into one 90 hour documentary, then the 80's and then 90's and then 00's, and then an episode on speculation on the future?
edit: 90 minutes not hours

something that might help, albeit very incomplete

The walking dead, while very good, hasn't yet started or ended a trend in video gaming like any of the other titles you've mentioned have. It might in the future, but it hasn't yet.
Man I feel old after watching this.
Wish he covered some more games from the early to late 90's, but a nice video nonetheless
i personally wish thief had got some coverage
i know other stealth games were on there, like metal gear and splinter cell
but thief was the original 3D stealth game and basically invented the subgenre
