I don't normally judge games before they are released but what the fuck are they doing with this and why does it deserve more attention then the already really popular minecraft that isn't technically even finished yet..
I don't normally judge games before they are released but what the fuck are they doing with this and why does it deserve more attention then the already really popular minecraft that isn't technically even finished yet..
Most likely because they are happy with the rep minecraft has gained and they know people will continue watching it for updates. While they are trying to get people hooked on there next project to boost interest.
Not interested, sorry Mojang. Better put all your effort into optimizing Minecraft and adding some more content.
Signed up for the alpha test. I love alpha tests.

Mojang tries to do something different as soon as possible: "What the fuck are they doing? Why not just make more Minecraft?"
It's not making more minecraft, it's finishing it before something else
I don't normally judge games before they are released but what the fuck are they doing with this and why does it deserve more attention then the already really popular minecraft that isn't technically even finished yet..
This is just a side project. They aren't going to start another main project while minecraft isn't finished.
Yeah, I thought mojang was being expanded so minecraft could become more of a professional product and higher quality game. Looks like instead he's using it to push out more games.
Mojang tries to do something different as soon as possible: "What the fuck are they doing? Why not just make more Minecraft?"
It'd be real nice if they'd actually finish their first game before they start another one.

I'ts okay to work on side projects as a company, but they really should work on getting Minecraft finished (Atleast, in a good enough state to be called that) before they allot a huge amount of time on Scrolls.
Moneyjang
it's not like they're not going to finish minecraft
Edit – oh, it’s a bit old. Oh well, no harm in restating it, eh?
And people wonder why I hate game journalism
Can't wait to pay money for an alpha and be let down after they move on to the next game
"Players will buy the game, and with that will come a randomised starter deck of scrolls. Should they want more, they can buy additional card packs, as with any other CCG, and of course not know what new cards they’ll receive."
Uh no thanks I'm already playing MTG, don't need this stuff

Minecraft is practically finished, Notch said they he planned on releasing the game by years end and there really isn't much that they can add to the game besides padding or bug fixes by that time.
Why are they not focusing on completing minecraft? It's so close to being done that it would make sense to complete it. They could even justify charging more for it since it's a complete game and not in beta any more. But then again Notch has always been an idiot so.
Minecraft is practically finished, Notch said they he planned on releasing the game by years end and there really isn't much that they can add to the game besides padding or bug fixes by that time.
There's loads of stuff he could add. Features people have been requesting for ages. Minecraft is a solid game right now, but it has the capacity and potential for so much more if Mojang were to actually invest more time in it than they are right now. Minecraft used to get weekly updates, and when he started a company he said it was to increase the quality of those updates. Now we're seeing bi-monthly updates that add less features.
It's annoying that Minecraft development slowed down ever since they got into an office (although they did need to reserve time for holiday and several game shows). They need to fix some really bad bugs which blaring at them on their Get Satisfaction page. Next big thing they're going to add is modding support (hopefully both server & client) which I hope in the long run give us just as much power over content as in GMod.
Can't wait to pay money for an alpha and be let down after they move on to the next game
They haven't moved. This is a secondary project, they don't even need more than one person doing it.
They haven't moved. This is a secondary project, they don't even need more than one person doing it.
arent there 2 peeps working on it?
Next big thing they're going to add is modding support (hopefully both server & client) which I hope in the long run give us just as much power over content as in GMod.
How optimistic are you on the modding support? Garrys mod lets you instantly download both client modifications and custom content on join. That's a pretty hefty feature when its all said and done, do you really think they're going to add something like that? I hope so. Its going to take more than 8 hours of work like the last wolf update. I just want him to blow open some API really. Preferably the java API so people can get some real work done and add stuff themselves. I know I would.
I like the idea of Mojang trying something new..but they need to get their shit together on the game that's already available first.
I for one hope this flops, and Mojang realise they need to stick to what they're good at. Because nobody I know wants to play this.
I for one hope this flops, and Mojang realise they need to stick to what they're good at. Because nobody I know wants to play this.
The only thing they're good at is taking holidays and breaks. Notch got lucky and that's the only reason the company exists at all. Notch used to be alright before the company - he got more work done then. As someone said before - moneyjang.
I think it's funny how a lot of you are being complete jerks about this. "Oh no 2 less people are working on Minecraft, IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT." You say this as the game continues to update regularly. There was a content update not even a week ago. I feel like the only one who is actually looking forward to the development of this game.
Hey, Hey, ya you.You look like a Mojang employee. How bout finishing minecraft before you make another game and completely forget about minecraft. I bet they finish scrolls before minecraft too
I think it's funny how a lot of you are being complete jerks about this. "Oh no 2 less people are working on Minecraft, IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT."
More people should be working on finishing the first game they started with. Especially considering it's the game that made the company exist in the first place.
You say this as the game continues to update regularly. I feel like the only one who is actually looking forward to the development of this game.
Just because it was updated a week ago doesn't mean it's updated regularly. Once every month isn't that regular, especially when taking the fact that notch updated every few days before the company. Too much credit is given to minecraft for it's updates. Any game that is alpha or beta gets updates. GMod is getting as many updates than minecraft is at the minute, and it was released ~5 years ago.
