That new name, which the group believes is more descriptive, is the "vaginal corona." Etymologically, the term hymen comes from the Greek word for membrane. In Swedish, it is called the modomshina, which translates as "virginity membrane." In fact, there is no brittle membrane or curtain, but rather multiple folds of mucous membrane. A vaginal corona, in other words. "The vaginal corona is a permanent part of a woman's body throughout her life," said Asa Regner, RFSU secretary-general. "It doesn't disappear after she first has sexual intercourse, and most women don't bleed the first time. The myths surrounding the hymen were created to control women's freedom and sexuality. The only way to counteract this is by disseminating knowledge."
They really have too much time on their hands.
you have too much time on your hands
but hymen sounds so much cooler. I'M DOING THE HYMEN MANEUVER
Why do i get the feeling they only did this to examine pussys?
To me it's still poppin' the cherry, no big deal.
Why do i get the feeling they only did this to examine pussys?
Yeah, perverts.
"Vaginal Corona" doesn't roll off the tongue like Hymen does.
"Vaginal Corona" doesn't roll off the tongue like Hymen does.
It does with experience. :smug:

Only science could make sex sound boring
Hymen?
Ok, but I seriously doubt the name change will make anyone start using the new one.

Corona is fucking piss in a bottle. I prefer Samuel Adams.
It's no longer a haircut - it's a trained cat sitting on your head.
Who actually cares about this at all?
Swedish Assn. for Sexuality Education, which goes by the acronym RFSU
:psyduck:
More descriptive? How do you get more descriptive than a word that doesn't mean anything except what it is? That's like saying we should call an apple "colorful shiny mostly round fruit" because it's more descriptive.
:psyduck:
I think they were created as an illegal group at first as an opposition to the law against sexual education or something, now they travel the land, teaching safe sex to the young.
Who actually cares about this at all?
It's a hot topic, son. You'll learn when you're older.
More descriptive? How do you get more descriptive than a word that doesn't mean anything except what it is? That's like saying we should call an apple "colorful shiny mostly round fruit" because it's more descriptive.
Yeah it doesn't mean anything else in the English language but you're ignoring the fact that everyone knows that the word "hymen" comes from the Ancient Greek "ὑμήν", which translates to "membrane" and therefore people incorrectly associate this translation with the hymen!
The only way to counteract this is by disseminating knowledge.
I'm pretty sure that anything happening to the vaginal corona is going to be far from disseminating. :smugdog:
The bit that baffles me is
In fact, there is no brittle membrane or curtain, but rather multiple folds of mucous membrane.

there is no membrane, but rather multiple folds of membrane.
What? Just because the membrane is a different type, the article admits it's still a membrane! But the article also fails to state any information for the translation of 'hymen' specifying any particular type - so the original word is still accurate! if anything, it should be plural. :v: Someone ought to tell this Swedish 'Association' to stop wasting our time.

It's just a name who cares.
It's just a name who cares.
you do
"The myths surrounding the hymen were created to control women's freedom and sexuality. The only way to counteract this is by disseminating knowledge." Hehehe, I'll bet.
I think they were created as an illegal group at first as an opposition to the law against sexual education or something, now they travel the land, teaching safe sex to the young.
No, the problem is the R in that acronym. When translated to Swedish, I don't know where that R comes from.
