AT LEAST I TRIED
This is awesome! Hopefully it doesn't just mutate
You aren't smurfy what are you doing
This shit is extremely good.
The longer it takes to get a fix, the more people suffer. This stuff NEEDS to get passed (within reason of course) and NEEDS to work, and help people.
It's weird to think that in a few years we might have actually tamed HIV and stopped it from being the prolific terroriser it once was. Even better I think there's a few treatments for other things that are being developed that exploit the strength and mechanics of HIV to fight other stuff.
Then I Am Legend happens. By nature's law, humans are not allowed to cure huge viruses and diseases.

Bubonic Plague?
Smallpox?
Well that title was certainly not descriptive. I've changed it now, but don't try to make mock titles without a good idea of what you're doing.
Yeah buddy! The titles were getting rather annoying
Bubonic Plague?

Bubonic Plague still exists in rats dude, it's still very much alive but we have an immunity to it since anyone who didn't have it likely died.
On another note it's that same gene that makes some people in Europe less susceptible to HIV.

Tried to change it, didn't update.
Thanks.

Ummm, no we dont. The plague still infects people here and there, its just not a threat because its very easy to treat with basic antibiotics.

HIV will still exist even with this vaccine.
The point here is that humanity has had a pretty solid history almost completely getting rid of some major diseases in AT LEAST Developed countries.

My mistake, it's a smaller portion than I thought it was, but we still have a resistance that could be from the plague.
If we can cure HIV, there's going to be at least one strain that is immune to it. There always is. I just hope we can adapt it for future strains.

It's not a god damned cure.
What was the title before?

Vaccine passes phase 1 or something to that effect.
now invent a cancer vaccine please
now invent a cancer vaccine please
Flat out impossible dude.
now invent a cancer vaccine please
Cancer is not a single disease you can throw a blanket cure at.
now invent a way to early detect all types of cancer and nanobots to remove all damaged tissue so it stops spreading please

Yet again, doesn't quite work like that.
Yet again, doesn't quite work like that.
now stop ruining my grand plans for the future please
what if we have robots that EAT CANCER
fucking brilliant
I was going to say lets all organize a condom burning party after this is released to the masses but then I realised this is facepunch and the majority don't need them anyway.
This is awesome! Hopefully it doesn't just mutate
It already has.
HIV mutates incredibly fast which is why we haven't already made a vaccine for it. There are many strains of HIV even in the body of a single person.
I don't know how this vaccine can create immunity or resistance to HIV when it is currently considered impossible to target it. Why don't we create a Flu vaccine that works for more than one year in that case?

And there are plenty of other STDs out there that sre still not treatable.

it's said to have been genetically modified in the article. i would think scientists know how unstable HIV is, maybe they've been able to trigger a broader range of immunity with this
