Time itself is now being questioned by Scientists. New theories and evidence shows that we may be wrong about how Time works. Even more so, if time was something invented by mankind!
One such theory is that Time was created by man to keep everything in order. We created time in our psych so we can keep track of our daily life. There is no A.M or P.M out in space, only in our heads.
Another theory is the universe is just one big clock. We started off from peaceful and tidy and will end up with chaos and everything messed up. For this theory to work however, we need to introduce the Multiverse theory for a second universe to be the opposite of ours; an evil twin. In this parallel universe, it starts off as chaotic and messy and reverses into everything being peaceful and tidy. (Time is backwards to us, in that universe)
A less sketchy but still far-out theory is that reality is not actually real at all, it's just frames per billionth of a millionth of a second. (0.000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,001 or something like that...it just has lots of zeroes) and with each frame, the universe moves forward but cannot go backwards but you can record these frames. (Which explains TVs, Cameras, etc)
There are a few more theories but I cannot remember them. Please, share your own thoughts or any that I've missed out.
Personally, I think Time is real and for 'What is Time?' Well...I'll explain it simply.
The big bang created space.
In that space, mass was created. (Stars, planets)
Where there is mass, gravity is created.
Gravity creates time.
Time is the gravitational strength of the mass of the object. (Weight is not appliciable in this scenario since in space, everything is weightless)

Time is a jelly-like substance stretch so thin we can feel it waiting on the toilet taking a dump and you don't have your smartphone or a book to read.

Whats it taste like?
AM and PM exist because humans created them. They are simply a way of determining how much of something there is until it comes back. In this case, sunrise and set and one revolution of Earth about its axis. It happens once, that's one day, it happens twice that's two days. As for time outside of humanities sights? It's probably negligible right now.
Of course time isn't real, everything is as you see it.
Facepunch is real.
time doesn't exist, humans invented it for convenience
Time is a dimension.
Much like up and down and side to side.
Even more so, if time was something invented by mankind!
Like in every thread before this. Ruler is to distance as Clock is to time.
Distance is relative, same as time(duration). Time is real, look into Spacetime/special relativity.
If time wasn't real, that would make several physics formulas impossible, wouldn't it?
Time is a dimension.Much like up and down and side to side.
"Up" and "down" are dimensions about as much as "time" is. i.e. not at all.
In the words of the good doctor: "Many people think time is a continuous line, in fact, it is more like a big wibbly-wobbly ball of timey-wimey...things"
The time we speak of is just a consecutive measurement system which we make our own calculations.
There is no definition of time as it doesn't exist.
It does not exist, we made it up to organize ourself and make some useful caculations..
Therefore time cannot be waisted.
I think of time as the interpolation between one frame and another. Frame being the state of the universe at a specific time.
Why are you asking if a concept is real? It's like asking the exact location of a wave in space
In the words of the good doctor: "Many people think time is a continuous line, in fact, it is more like a big wibbly-wobbly ball of timey-wimey...things"
"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect when actually - from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - time is more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly... timey-wimey... stuff."
Is distance fake too?
By saying time isn't real you are also saying that distance and tempreture are non existent. If we have tools and scales for measuring it doesn't mean we invented it.
Time is merely a perception in which man uses to record our lives and how all that once was and all that will be affects all of us.
haha the ratings.

IIRC Their is no A.M or P.M out in Germany either so is Germany considered a part of space or is it just in my head? Damn Nazi mind control.
Time is that shit that I waste on weekends
I'm not sure anyone in this thread knows anything about anything.

How does gravity create time? Our scale for measuring time is not time itself.
Time occurs in intergalactic voids as much as it does here.
If you're saying that the units into which we divide time are not tangible things, you are right.
This does not make time not real.

Since when did entropy require multiverses?
Who said this?
Was there any experiment or even thought experiment undertaken to determine this?

This does not make any sense.
Did you make these 'theories'?
If you express an instant as anything more than zero time, then it is not an instant any more.
Recognizing time as being divided up into seconds is counter to that sentence.
Furthermore, cameras take time to make images, taking fractions of seconds to burn the magnesium or record the light information.
They do not instantly capture things as if they were a 'frame' of time.

Who are these scientists to question time itself?
Anyone remember ancient aliens? Some of those guys were scientists apparently.
Time doesn't exist? What kind of bullshit is that? Animals know when it's time to go to winter slumber or fly to warmer countries, when to return and shit.
If that's not time, I don't know what is.
Humans invented a clock, not time.
Clearly you never read the P.S.
