It's pinball-related, to be sure
You might know Zen Studios as "The Pinball Guys." The Hungary-based developer has more games under its belt, but in recent years, it's most well-known ventures have included flippers, steel balls, and franchises from elsewhere in pop culture.
It seems as if the next project in Zen's pipeline will take on a theme from one of gaming's most prolific developers: Valve. Zen recently tweeted out a picture of the two companies' logos with a sleek pinball sheen.
Valve has a fair repertoire of games that lend themselves to be prominently featured on a Zen table. Something set in the Half-Life/Portal universe would surely be a hit. Left 4 Dead or Team Fortress 2 could be viable candidates too. There are a lot of possibilities here.
But, entertain me for a second, and imagine that the development roles are reversed. What if Valve is creating a game all about pinball? What if Half-Life 3's Gordon Freeman has suddenly ceased to care about the Combine invasion, and only yearns to be the world's best pinball player? What if he's also deaf, dumb, and blind for some reason?
You're right; we're probably better off if Zen just makes a Valve table.

Portal Pinball was created in collaboration between Valve and Zen Studios and will allow players to guide both Chell and Wheatley through several test chambers through the use of portals and aerial faith plates to defeat turrets and GLaDOS in an attempt to escape the facility and reach the surface. ATLAS and P-Body will also be available to offer their Cooperative Testing Initiative Multiball by wreaking havoc on the Turret Factory by discovering Ratman’s hidden mini playfield.
Portal Pinball will be available the week of May 25 for $2.99 on PC, Mac, and consoles and $1.99 on mobile platforms.
My only reaction is "What the fuck?"
At this rate their next big title will become Ricochet 2.
Doesn't really matter what comes out of this, it wont be interesting at all...
Case in point:
It's a pinball table based off of Valve's franchises.
That's literally it, this is what that developer does.
I saw "steel balls" and thought Valve was collaborating on a new Duke Nukem game.
This is a bit disappointing.
I'm imagining a Portal themed machine with little portals scattered about with a mechanism that transports the ball around
It's a pinball table based off of Valve's franchises.
That's literally it, this is what that developer does, don't go thinking that Valve is making a pinball game.
Source engine 2 confirmed for pinball engine
Lead game confirmed for re-imagined pinball-themed ricochet 2

That is indeed what the news article states
not really sure what game to expect for it though

I was hoping that JoJo's All Star Battle would be released for PC
This is it guys. We're gonna get halflife 3
And it's gonna be a pinball game.
I think TF2 or Portal Pinball could be pretty cool, actually. I'd certainly be down!
I'm imagining a Portal themed machine with little portals scattered about with a mechanism that transports the ball around
nvm didn't realize they aren't real pinball machines
I guess we're actually getting Richochet 2 afterall :v:
I imagine the Half life one will be that the flippers look like the ends of a crowbar, while the ball is painted like a head crab, and the rest of the machine is designed like Black mesa.
Sounds like it could be good. Pinball is a ton of fun for some weird reason, and I would be alright with some new digital tables for ZEN.
Zen is really becoming the Telltale of Pinball when it comes to franchises. :v:
I mean I should be excited because it's pinball but... meh. I prefer pinball games like TPA where the tables are grounded in reality. Maybe it would've been cooler to make a recreation of a fake Valve-themed pinball table as if it did exist at one point.

Or is Telltale becoming the Zen Pinball of adventure games when it comes to franchises????
ricochet pinball
L4D pinball table where you hit the car, and when the alarm goes off you get a shit-ton of balls at once
L4D pinball table where you hit the car, and when the alarm goes off you get a shit-ton of balls at once
Triggering the alarm suddenly causes a 30 ball multiball that puts Apollo 13 to shame.
L4D pinball table where you hit the car, and when the alarm goes off you get a shit-ton of balls at once
Then you hear tank music and a hidden cannon fires from under the table
Cross your fingers and hope it's Valve's version of P.T. with a secret HL3 trailer?
Imagine a Counter Strike table where the bumpers are replaced with C4 Explosions.
Depending on exactly which franchise this is a pinball game for, it could be Valve's official middle finger to everyone :v:
I'd actually like to try this, considering I haven't seen a working pinball machine in my area in like 10 years
L4D pinball table where you hit the car, and when the alarm goes off you get a shit-ton of balls at once
HL2 pinball where you have to hit eli and then it's over.
