"In this new world, no one knows anything" The haters and the doubters, I feel like, are often lumped together with the people who are giving you advice, on what is probably a bad idea. For example, if you quit your decently paying job to focus on your shitty Youtube channel, doing Letsplays and getting next to no views, I feel as though that is a bad idea, and other people who also think this is a bad idea, who are warning you, aren't necessarily "HATERS" and "DOUBTERS", they're just concerned for your success and well being. "You don't have to listen to anyone" Technically he is 100% spot on with this sentence, but he should have added at least to take into consideration what "anyone" is trying to tell them. I know Neistat is looking to inspire the self doubters and the people who's passions are shot down by people who have doubt in them as well, I mean hell if you really believe what you do is worth doing, I can't recommend it more, but come on. This honestly feels like it has a very rebellious and "Fuck the haters" vibe to it. Kind of like those motivational speakers who say "If I can do it, you can too, just buy my book" except this is solely motivational. I also dislike that title. Like a lot. "Do what you can't" God damn, it's just so fucking rebellious. Like this could be the slogan of a serial killer. "I did what I couldn't and you should too" [sp]"Buy my book"[/sp] But honestly this video was really inspirational. Props to that.
boo hoo i don't like this videogrumblgrumble
I have no real strong feelings on this video but I appreciate someone trying to spread a positive message
I think most people around here's exposure to Neistat are all the dumb Hillary videos and iDubbbz making fun of his looks but he's goddamn talented and had a pretty rough time getting to where he's at. Which is very inspiring. I just think he's a very inspiring person and this video is something I'd expect of him and still well-made.
So much negativity here. What he's saying is don't give up on what you want to do just because others tell you that you will fail. It's great advice in that regard. I've seen far too many people give up on their ideas prematurely, me including. I think that one of the reasons depression and low self-worth is so common is because people always tell others what they can't rather than what they can. To make it worse, most people who say that are unsuccessful and in the same position themselves so they just try to bring others down subconsciously or otherwise. It's like fat people telling you to not exercise because you're healthy as is. Useless "advice". When it comes to reality, yes, you will most likely fail. But failing in my view is better than not trying at all. At least you get a story to tell and some experience behind your back. If you just sit and go with the flow, you will most likely regret it later in life.
Know who lives by this advice and is now the president of the USA? See how this turns out?
Know who lives by this advice and is now the president of the USA? See how this turns out?
For him it's turning out great. Maybe if more good people lived by this advice USA would have a better president.
Know who lives by this advice and is now the president of the USA? See how this turns out?
To be fair he wasn't doing what he couldn't, he was using a voter base that already agreed with him.
this whole thread is just downright depressing.
Honestly the video just made me feel like a schmuck because I'm not a content creator who decided to throw caution to the wind.
This kind of attitude is right for some people with a certain mindset who want to do certain things. Some people, most people in fact, are quite happy with the 'normal' way of doing things and get along fine that way. I like Casey Neistat and if he inspires people to say 'fuck it' and achieve what they want to achieve then that's fine in my book.
