J.K. Simmons has finally gotten the sort of recognition he’s long deserved—the character actor recently picked up a Golden Globe award and an Oscar nomination for his powerful supporting turn in ‘Whiplash,’ which means we’re going to start seeing him in more interesting projects. And one of those projects just might be a new ‘Spider-Man’ movie, in which Simmons could very well reprise the beloved role of J. Jonah Jameson.
One of the highlights of Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy was undoubtedly Simmons, who perfectly portrayed the obnoxious and demanding newspaper editor J. Jonah Jameson. Rather than recast the role of Jameson, ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ director Marc Webb opted out of including the character at all, which might have been for the best.
But in a new interview with Howard Stern on his Sirius XM talk show (via SlashFilm), Simmons hints that he could reprise the role in a new ‘Spider-Man’ movie:
Stern: Hey, we doing another [Spider-Man] or what?
Simmons: I just heard that we…that’s a possibility.
Stern: Would you do it?
Simmons: Absolutely.

Like honestly the best thing about Rami is he is great at picking actors. The original trilogy, while maybe campy and somewhat poorly written, had fantastically fitting characters and good actors.
He is obviously perfect for the character, but it would be pretty surreal to see him in a Spider-Man movie unrelated to the Raimi trilogy.
The dude can act like mad, too. Everyone reading this should see Whiplash before the Oscars. J.K Simmons OWNS that role. It's like Jonah Jameson if he was a music teacher, but a lot less funny and a whole lot more intimidating.

And fucking Oz too man. he's so awesome in oz.
BRING ME PICTURES OF SPIDERMAN

[laughing]

i actually really like j.k. simmons though, this is good.
I hope Disney does what they did with the Daily Bugle with the current Spiderman Cartoon, by having it as a 24 News station with the quality of Fox News instead of a tabloid paper, for the upcoming movie.
If he does come back and any villains are Alfred Molina level, then boom. New movies are 200% better than the old ones.

except for, you know, the spiderman character
J.K. Simmons handled that role in Spider-Man perfectly. His lines were golden.
Andrew Garfield > Toby Maguire as Spider-Man
As Spidey sure, but Maguire is a far far better Peter Parker.
Andrew Garfield > Toby Maguire as Spider-Man
At least Toby was able to string a sentence that wasn't just "uh....oh....*hand movements* uummmm". Peter Parker is a bit bad at social situations but not completely retarded.
look, i like whining as much as the next guy, but i like the ultimate spider man approach way way more
They're two different adaptions of two different periods of Spider-Man.
Raimis is inspired mostly by the original comics, mostly from the 70's/80's, Spider-Man is bigger and bulkier too, like he was then.
Webbs is more modern Spider-Man, and the actor is thinner and more flexible, etc.
I can't even imagine a spider-man not being Toby Maguire. IMO he fit the role so well, he was a perfect dweeb as Peter Parker while also being a snarky spiderman.
He was literally made for the role:

I hope if Marvel does a 'new' new spider man film he's featured more often.
I hope he's in a reboot. Using JK fucking Simmons in the TASM series would be a serious waste of potential, talent, and greatness.

But atleast I remember that.
I can't remember 1 thing out of Andrew Garfield's mouth. Such little presence.

Funny I thought emo Peter was the best part of spider-man 3, that "cool" dance is still bloody hilarious to me.
I watched tasm1 and I wanted to hurl, I'm not even going to watch the second one.

It's a shame Vincent Price is dead, he probably would've made an amazing Doctor Strange.
jonah is the true king of SH

Spoilers: voiced by the guy.
So they probably designed his facial features off of him.
I can't imagine anyone else playing J Jonah Jameson. It would feel like a cheap knock-off.
Seriously, the only man i could imagine being in the role.
