• Gold Members and FacePunch

I realize that there is much controversy about gold members on FacePunch. Recently, a thread was made to give gold members the ability to ban the FacePunch proletariat. Of course, it is currently only a petition by member GoldenBullet -- but it gets one thinking. What if the golds, the most well-respected and the smartest members of the FacePunch community, could ban? History of Gold Members Gold Member was originally a user group which could be purchased for $5 USD. After some time, this changed and gold was not for sale. However, regular "blue" members are now automatically upgraded to Gold after two years of foruming and 2,000 posts. Obviously, the gold members should be able to moderate because they own. I'll quote the second First Lady, Abigail Adams, by saying " ... remember the golds ... " in her famous letter to John Adams on March 31st, 1776. In Summation: The golds are wonderful and should receive more privileges. You'res truly, over 9000 posts.
if Goldmembers had banning abilities then they would be Moderators so really if they did there wouldn't be any more Goldmembers.
Pretty much everyone is getting gold member nowadays. Why give them power?
No. Moderation power should not be automatically earned nor sold. I've seen that fail oh so many times.
respected and smartest?? wait until you look at the goldmember loundge, a mix of FT and OIFY

This would end in shame.
Everyone will just end up banned.
OP is a jackass and a bigger idiot than I imagined possible if he actually thinks that Garry and the rest of the administration will grant us goldmembers the power to ban others. I'm not interested in goldmembers being granted the ability to ban. Many goldmembers I meet are idiots who couldn't handle that kind of power.

Hahahahaha, but no, more than half of the gold members are as bad, if not worse than Ryu-Gi. Imagine the chaos, half of them can't even follow the rules themselves.
There's plenty of shit gold members.
A lot of golds tend to be cool guys, still there are idiots among them as in any other user group. Giving the whole lot moderation ability would be a terrible idea. Some fuckface would go on an unjustified banning rampage and the staff would have an ungodly amount of cleaning up to do.
I would ban everyone. Starting with that goldie faggot Rubs10.
What if the golds, the most well-respected and the smartest members of the FacePunch community, could ban?
I would've had nothing against it, when the gold members weren't flaming cockheads that popped out of nowhere. "Derp I've been here for 2 years, I can now say that I'm awesome" You're not awesome, infact you're lower than when you were a blue member. I still respect the original members. Those who survived 5 years without getting permabanned, they'll always have a special place in my heart and soul.
I'd ban everyone muhahahahha gold4lyfe
"You'res truly"
id ban you right there for correcting this man who clearly needs no correction
Goddamnit I should've joined a half year earlier so I could ban OP
Having a .gif avatar is enough of an award to me
hey look im a gold stfu blue im so better than u :v: :smug: more emotes to make you look funny
If I woke up one day, and saw Golds had banning abilities, this would be my reaction Everyone would ban each other. Most likely majority of them will be either for the hell of it, or because someone disagreed with them. And then the mods will have to clean up all the piss and shit of who was justly banned and who was not.
I just wanna see the rc :v:
Respected Users should have their own category and color again. Those are the ones I would trust with banning abilities. I trust some RU over some mods.

If you need Golds to be special, why not let them be the only ones who can give ratings? I don't think a majority of the blues will miss it after a week or two.
Knowing my luck, this 2 years, 2k posts thing will be over by the time im ready for it
If I kept posting the same amount of posts per day, starting now, it would take me 814.7959183673469 days to get to gold member. :(
Enough people already spam useless posts to reach the 2k mark, why give them an extra reason to do it?
Knowing my luck, this 2 years, 2k posts thing will be over by the time im ready for it
Luckily you just have to hold out another couple of months. I have a year minus a four days.
I hate goldmembers nowadays. Anyone else remember when goldmembers only made quality posts? None of them ever misspelled a word, even for comedic value. They always were on the right side, they were calm and never raged. Almost like a moderator post now. 1-2 per small thread, well written but brief. now goldmembers are just people who created an account a long time ago. I was thinking about trying to find the password for one of my old accounts, so I could post alot and get goldie. Then I realized what I would be doing. The only good side to being a goldmember is the avatar. It's difficult to find a unique decent avatar this filesize.
