Looking great, can't wait to play it!
Monster Hunters are really great games if you can look past all the tedious grind. It is a very enjoyable experience especially if you can get some friends to coop with.
The main gripe what some magazines have with this game is the new content, because it barely offers something new for the series. I guess, if you've never played Ultimate 3 you can go for it.
Fuck me. I was going to get majora's mask, but then I found out MH4 comes out this weekend.
Fuck Majora's Mask, that shit can wait. Time to get my monster hunting on again.
If you haven't yet, play the MH4 demo, its fucking fantastic. 3 Bosses total, 2 different difficulties and a full suite of weapons to choose from. Complete with local, and online multiplayer.
[sp]Fuck that Gore Magala though. Fucking Frenzy Virus.[/sp]
I hate to ask, but how is the game different from Dark Souls? It looks like the same exact mechanics.

The Monster Hunter series pre-dates Dark Souls significantly btw, the first Monster Hunter was released in 2004, the second in 2006 and the third in 2009.

The combat is pretty similar with the exception of combos and each hit having different modifiers and sometimes sweet spots.
But the real Monster Hunter is 1/3 preparation, 1/3 studying monster behavior, and 1/3 dodging.

How To Tell Someone Didn't Watch The Video.
I had such a great time with Monster Hunter on the PS2, I just wish they would bring it to another platform in Europe. :(

Just play Monster Hunter Freedom if you really want some of that classic Monster Hunter magic.

You all laugh and be dicks about it but it's a pretty legitimate question. Yeah, the combat is pretty similar barring the combo system and it has mechanics like stamina and health and all that good stuff the main thing about it is the preparation time for each monster, how intelligently you have to fight even to a degree above Dark Souls because that's just dodging at the right time, this is more dodging or blocking at the right time, attack key spots with certain weapons and playing with friends is a LOT better. For example, Lances are good for hitting up at the monsters head to wear it out and can block most attacks while a Greatsword chops off his tail.
It's also just a lot more in-depth in general with the amazing crafting system where every single monster, even minor ones like Rhenoplos can give you a new set of equipment and you have to harvest something from everything to get some of them done. I dunno, overall you can say it's like Dark Souls but on a higher level if you wanted to but when you get down to the nitty gritty it's hard to compare them. And honestly, if you like Dark Sous you'd probably like this, i know i do and i'm not even a veteran like some of these people.
[editline] Fuck you [/editline]
Also, Dark Souls has some pretty big bosses but Monster Hunter takes that to a level even games like Painkiller wouldn't fuck with.
