EX-Forum Mod Devin here. Let me tell ya some stuff you can spout on for a new youtube video
My forum account was hacked, my fault, they deleted a lot of posts. I was de-modded and banned, got my computer secure, re-modded and unbanned and took care of business as usual. Except their company is full of dumb fucks and didn't backup the forums at all. No backups whatsoever.
Sergay then took it upon himself to tell Kewk to demote me for my fuckup that could have been reversed if they were not so fucking stupid.
I then made a post on the forums about how I knew this was coming; and I was sorry and would not long be supporting a company that did not support their unpaid volunteer Moderators that spent over 100+ hours answering THEIR CUSTOMERS questions and concerns as well as relaying them the ideas the community had for their bullshit game.
I was then banned for making a "Rage quit" thread permanent and here is the even funnier part my in-game account banned under the excuse I requested a refund
So, since I didn't sign any sort of NDA for those fuckfaces here are some interesting facts.
WarZ is a direct port over from War Inc. They literally took the game and added NPCs, made a large map, and changed around camera angles and gun settings while adding more functionality and switching over some things. ALL ART however was actually done in-house by their amazing ART team. (Those were the best guys to know, they were in touch more with the community than Kewk)
They randomly ban accounts that have a certain amount of time spent playing in-game, knowing they are hooked on the game so they re-buy the game.
Their anti-hack is actually functional but here's the kicker..wanna know WHY their bans are TEMPORARY the first time around? 0.8% hacking? Try an EXTREMELY LARGE PORTION of the player base is hacking. If they banned everyone they'd have a mass refund issue on their hands, and no one to play their piss poor of an excuse game.
they plan to HALT DEVELOPMENT AND ABANDON THE GAME in SIX months if revenue is not enough for them (I.E. People are not buying GC and spending the fuck out of it) -- take note, if they do not get ENOUGH revenue. They will have enough revenue to pay for the game development for over a year at this point in time already, but if they don't get enough to give themselves regular raises they will stop making the game and shut down the servers and website.
Here is a "Proof of ban" picture & a proof of me NOT requesting a refund.
late as fuck
I've never even heard of War Z.
They didn't even do backups.
How stupid do you have to be, to not make backups for important things.

Its a standalone version of the popular mod "DayZ"
If anyone thought The War Z was anything more than a cash grab in the wake of Day Z then...well...I don't know what to tell you.
You got punk'd.
I'm happy I asked for a refund and got it instantly. War Z devs seems extremely immature. Whos Xsolla btw? They refunded within 5 mins.
Its a standalone version of the popular mod "DayZ"
No it's not?

No it's not, these are two completely different things
Tbh if you go around saying stuff like that on facepunch you're likely to be demodded as well.
so what is it then?
so what is it then?
It's a crap cash in of the DayZ genre of games (Made by a dev team which isn't the same as those who made Dayz) which has frankly nothing good going for it.

Garry's Mod is a direct port over from Half-Life 2. They literally took the game and added props, made a large map, and changed around some settings and guns while adding more functionality and switching over some things. ALL ART however was actually done in-house by the amazing dav0r. (He was the best guy to know, he was in touch more with the community than garry)
They randomly ban accounts that have a certain amount of time spent playing in-game, knowing they are hooked on the game so they re-buy the game.
What the fuck.
Basically, while it's a lot more stable than DayZ, it's a lot shittier and less realistic
I.e. it's not crazy realistic like ARMA II
Its a standalone version of the popular mod "DayZ"
And so their business strategy proves to at least partially work.
I'm not sure I can blame them for abandoning the game development if it's not making enough money though, the average salary for a good game developer is relatively high why the hell should they have to work for less than that?
I do think they should try and keep the servers online somehow though.
Somehow I saw this coming. Patiently waiting for the real DayZ standalone to enter the fray. Rocket still claims they'll have their first alpha release before the end of the next month.
They randomly ban accounts that have a certain amount of time spent playing in-game, knowing they are hooked on the game so they re-buy the game.
mmm If I got permabanned out of the blue for no reason on a game I loved, the last thing I'll do is ignore it and repurchase it.
This is the dumbest fucking idea I've heard of.
I wouldn't play a game like this except for on console anyway just because the better part of half the people you see playing the game are using some sort of cheat
I thought there was a WarZ mod on warcraft 3 as well long before DayZ showed up
I've never even heard of War Z.
Then you probably dont go to GGD
And so it begins...

Is this a joke? They have enough money to pay developers and develop a game but not enough for support staff (or rather "moderators")?
Sure it's still beta, but they have over 179,000 members on that forum... figure even if 10% bought the survivor package at $29.99 they'd have around 500 grand. That's actually really sad imo and hopefully they get some kind of compensation for taking their time to support their customers.
And I'm sure more then 10% bought the game, even if it's still in beta.
The forum moderator was removed rather understandably due to him compromising the security and integrity of the forums. Though everything after the line "So, since I didn't sign any sort of NDA for those fuckfaces here are some interesting facts." I find hard to believe the authenticity of for various reasons; other than perhaps using War Inc assets (given they participated in War Inc's development). The "evidence" of him "NOT" requesting a refund/chargeback is also questionable.
The War Z (regardless of wether it's a cash-in or not) is a fun game even in it's current alpha state. It's certainly a nice alternative to Day Z.
How do I get a refund? Is there a person to message on the forums?
People need to realize that dayz is not released yet, it's an percistency test currently. Wait for the real thing, warZ developement will be stopped in about 3-6 months I bet since alot of people will do refunds as soon dayz gets released.

Don't make a thread otherwise it will be locked. Contact a moderator and they should be able to help you, but its a small chance to get your money back.

Not entirely true.

How did he compromise the security and integrity of the forums, exactly?
The devs didn't "participate" in War Inc's developement, they made War Inc and were planning on adding a zombie mode when they saw DayZ and went for the cashgrab by basically extending that gamemode and trying to make everyone forget about War Inc.
No it's not, these are two completely different things
completely different, yet both have zombies in them

So much this, i'd like a refund myself.
