Edit: Found this, didn't make this. Just making that clear.
Interesting to see it be turned into an alternative universe classic Doom song.
Do the med/sci level music!
I didn't do it! I just found it.
I love System Shocks music and I really wanna play it for its story and gameplay but god damn that UI and those controls are so fucking awful.

If someone would remake it faithfully on a modern engine, that would be glorious.
He needs to make the cyberspace theme, best track in the whole game.

System Shock Portable kind of fixes it with WASD and the Shoot/Look mode system from 2 hacked in.
The Hacker still handles like a drunken hovercraft.

Plus it doesn't crash all the time like the dosbox version.

Ill have to check that out, a great story and narrative doesnt age which is what im going to play it mainly for.
Movement isnt really a concern, I know its old as ass and if I can deal with Dark Engines moon shoes engine(SS2/Thief) than ill be fine, but jesus, even for its time it was criticized on that UI and control scheme.

So I got the System Shock Portable, controls a shitload better, pressing E goes into mouse look, toggle it again to move the mouse to pick up and drop shit and use your inventory, sadly you gotta do this a lot but its not a big deal.

I actually kinda like the fact that you can aim everywhere (and toggle mouselook when needed, using the portable version), lean how the fuck you want in any direction and move objects around. It's not intuitive at first but you get used to it quickly

I never could play the first game, the controls drove me insane instantly after trying to hit those tiny fucking bots at the start and having to hit 4 different buttons to look down, and it kept crashing, I never did try the mouselook mod though

Also for reference, the music from System Shock used in the levels consist of around 40 different tracks mixed together randomly when you play, its a bit of a pain in the ass to work with it
I want to get off System Shocks wild ride.

Is that hq2x? That has to be the most semi-awful thing I've ever seen
Goddamnit, now I want to try to get System Shock working again

Get system shock portable, works like a charm(go into options in the command prompt and enable shit)
Also going above 1028x764(or whatever it is) seems to crash it.

I was using System Shock Portable
I could only get past the new game screen around a fifth of the time, even then it would crash on loading a lot too, I could set an alternative dosbox build which fixed the crashing but broke the graphics
I actually got to level 2 using System Shock portable.
Even though the game is dated as fuck and the midi soundtrack is bleeding my ears, I turned music off and the game is pretty fucking spooky even to this day.
Doors and enemy sounds everywhere being spooky, creepy ass implants such as one that gives you a viewpoint behind you but has like a 1 second delay and only shows a still image, the writing and Shodan are still 10/10, especially shodan.
some how 2D sprites on level 2 research are giving me major spooks, I hear them making weird ass moaning sounds but I cant find them and I dont want to.

I beat the game using System Shock portable a couple years ago.

Games don't date, is the players who grow up with other stuff. Also Im not sure if you can change the quality of the audio, the dosbox version from the original floppy disk is pretty ok and doesn't feel like a needle into your ear.
I could never get the mouselook mod working. Still found it enjoyable with the vanilla controls, but I couldn't do the cyberspace part for shit.
