Europe is facing an ‘Arab invasion’, Pope Francis mused while addressing a French Christian group, adding that the trend is actually a positive one. “We can speak today of Arab invasion. It is a social fact,” the pontiff said, according to extracts from his address earlier this week which were published by the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano on Thursday. He then added: “How many invasions has Europe experienced in the course of its history! But it’s always been able to overcome them and move forward, finding itself complimented and improved by the cultural exchange they brought about.” The Pontiff also reflected on the history of migration into Europe and the positive impact it has had on European culture as we now know it. The Pope also declared that Europe is “the only continent that can bring some unity to the world”. He then added, that in order to fulfill its “universal role”, Europe must “rediscover its cultural roots”.
https://www.rt.com/news/334590-pope-francis-arab-invasion/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3476959/The-Pope-says-social-fact-Europe-seeing-Arab-invasion.html http://www.dw.com/en/pope-we-can-speak-of-an-arab-invasion-of-europe/a-19095285 Not many stories on this, it's no news about the pope supporting and advocating for islamic refugees flooding europe, what the pope is saying is that the islamic jihad from 620ad onwards, subjucation and destruction against europe\christianity made us better people due to culture exchanges, that's similar to a white person telling africans slavery was good for their people because you got educated and adopted western culture
A South American saying that Europe is the only continent which can unite the world? [sp]Okay, admittedly he's coming from a continent which primarily speaks two European languages, but still...[/sp]
Glad to see the modern day Catholic Church welcoming fellow Muslims into Europe when contrasted to the bloody times of the Crusades.

Those two aren't reliable you know. who could have imagined the supposedly man appointed by god on earth is a delusional dumbfuck the best cultural exchange of them all would be to move the pope to the middle east

Your tiny perspective is understandable. Just imagine a more unified world 100 years from now, and hope for the best. People have been invading people since humanity began and culture has been constantly changing. And I'm sure they've bitched through every second or it, this is just another one of those times. Get loud when things get violent, and so far the violence between culture has been very much one sided.
DW is valid afaik. BTW crusades were mainly a conquest ambition, since they targeted the Holy Land which was conquered like 400 years ago. Quite a late reaction tbh. I mean, they kinda skipped through Anatolia just for the sake of it, if aim was re-conquest theyd first retake anatolia.
Here's a video to help educate yourself of Jihad vs Crusades. Or are you refering to secularism? Because simply implying that religion is against civil rights and liberty is dead wrong [editline]5th March 2016[/editline]
DW is valid afaik.
He then added: “How many invasions has Europe experienced in the course of its history! All you guys talking about Jihad, the literal meaning of that word is the preservation of Islam, not its expansion. That's a misdefinition that I guess came from Islamic terrorists talking about jihad on the west, but even then it was only because they felt that Islam was under threat. The Islamic Empire (which was as much about what Islam is today as the Roman Catholic empire was about what Christianity is today) was an expansionist medieval empire. Even if you are an atheist and hate it, you have to recognize that Europe as the form in which everybody recognises it, wouldn't have come into existence.
