This pic states the paradox:
White's family and a rights activist, citing witnesses, allege that the officers punched and beat White before he was placed in an ambulance for respiratory distress. They also point to a bystander's cellphone video, which they say shows a police dog biting White as he lies on the ground.

Hudson, chairman of the Salem County-based civil rights group National Awareness Alliance, called the disclosures "the first step toward justice."
But he criticized authorities for waiting until the video from Anonymous to disclose the names. "We shouldn't have to go through those extreme measures"...
I, uh, dont see how this is "local pwnage"
On Tuesday, the names, home addresses, and phone numbers of Officers Louis Platania and Jeffrey Travaline were posted on a website that has been used by Anonymous hackers.
Stuart Alterman, who said he has been hired by the police union to represent the three officers, called the release of names by Anonymous "unfortunate," saying the investigation should be allowed to play out.
"To interrupt the flow and to threaten the release of information is tantamount to extortion of law enforcement authorities," Alterman said.
Because that to me sounds like they doxxed someone in an ongoing investigation. Thats not cool at all. If this was post-investigation I'd be more open to it.
Oh shit, this is my town
not really "the right thing" when home addresses and phone numbers are released

But muh epic meme hackers
Ehh. I have mixed feelings about this. One one hand, yeah, doxxing people isn't cool. But these guys are murderers, and police officers, which makes it worse. Furthermore, Ferguson showed us that massive systemic problems with law enforcement and the courts are not beyond possibility in the USA, and any hint of it needs to be stomped out, hard. We can't rely on the legal system to police itself anymore.

but they are still on trial
we don't need batman wannabes trying to enact vigilante justice

Fair point. Still, the demands on the video were reasonable. That the officers involved have their names released and be put on administrative leave pending resolution of charges - Not that they be fired instantly. If they weren't met, oh well.

officers involved in that sort of scenario are always put on administrative leave?
that's how that shit works, guy fawkes doesn't need to ask for it and end up fucking with the justice system even more
I can't tell what made me cringe harder, the image macro or the words, "Local pwnage."

It's feeling very 2008 right now.
This isn't good at all, these guys deserve their time in court and to be tried first, not mobbed

Because the courts did such a good job of trying officers involved in the Eric Garner case.

I wouldn't be cool with doxxing even after the fact. What does that accomplish?
Because the courts did such a good job of trying officers involved in the Eric Garner case.
That wasn't the courts that was a prosecutor deciding to bring a case or not, in here it doesn't matter its going to court

Post investigation we shouldn't look into anyone's information ourselves at all. Because that's just wrong to do.
Is the OP like 6 years old or something

Sorry, I thought they had a hearing with a grand jury about deciding on whether or not it would go to trial. Wouldn't that still be considered as part of the court's due process?
