• Obama’s Protections for L.G.B.T. Workers Will Remain Under Trump
WASHINGTON — The White House said on Monday that President Trump would leave in place a 2014 Obama administration order that created new workplace protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. In a statement issued in response to growing questions about whether Mr. Trump would reverse the Obama order, the White House said the president was proud to embrace gay rights. “President Trump continues to be respectful and supportive of L.G.B.T.Q. rights, just as he was throughout the election,” the statement said. “The president is proud to have been the first ever G.O.P. nominee to mention the L.G.B.T.Q. community in his nomination acceptance speech, pledging then to protect the community from violence and oppression.” The decision to keep the order, the statement added, was Mr. Trump’s. It uses stronger language than any Republican president has before in favor of equal legal protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, though that is not likely to quiet Mr. Trump’s critics on the left.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/30/us/politics/obama-trump-protections-lgbt-workers.html
Good news is nice to have for a change.
 I can't keep track any more

Shame it's not true 'cause the NYT is fake news. SAD!

This is a good start but I maintain that if he pushes the First Amendment Defense Act then it's all for naught. He can talk a big game about how good he is for LGBTQ rights, but when push comes to shove will he side with the traditional GOP preference for Catholic interests or the rights of LGBTQ folk? I guess time will tell. Things have been so uncertain in regards to our rights with the majority Republican congress, potentially conservative biased Justice appointments, and even uncertainty with Trump himself.
A silver lining, at least.
is that why he chose a VP who wants to zap homosexual people into liking the opposite gender
Technically not confirmed. Also he isn't hateful of the LGBT community it seems. Just seems like a pretty typical (and probably better than the average) religious man. Plus he is just VP to be there for the GOP connection for Trump. Not much VPs can do if the President said this issue is done.

Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior.
Pence is hardly a gay friendly VP.
But it works. Haven't you ever watched the police deploy a tazer on someone and they instantly turn fab?
You must be a terrible dancer.
average
No religious person I've ever spoken to aside from one advocated repeatedly electrocuting people to fix the hormone balance and brain chemistry they were born with, this person also firmly believes the Catholic Church is quite literally the Legions of Hell "in disguise".
Also, the example you gave there, Tudd, is not Pence showing solidarity with gays, but defending his ridiculous "Religious freedom" bill.
Also, the example you gave there, Tudd, is not Pence showing solidarity with gays, but defending his ridiculous "Religious freedom" bill.
Oh my fucking god it makes sense lmao He's not saying that he personally wouldn't eat there anymore, he's saying that if you feel offended, you shouldn't eat there anymore instead of persecuting them.
Also, the example you gave there, Tudd, is not Pence showing solidarity with gays, but defending his ridiculous "Religious freedom" bill.
That's exactly what it is yes, just an out of context post hoping people won't read past the heading. As I've said before, having lived all 25 of my years in Indiana I know what kind of man Pence is. He is not a friend to the LGBT community in any capacity, and he's definitely not a "better than average religious person" (what) by any possible measure. When a state like this, that is often very Republican, and to be honest with you has a fair amount of anti-gay still left in it, even sees through what he was doing because of how unpopularly vile it got when he was here, THAT'S how bad he is. He's an insidious man that has no place near the White House in my opinion. Basically one of those "I think about gay sex ALL THE TIME you wouldn't understand my conviction." Family values types that violently shoves their anti-gay beliefs into everywhere they can fit it, relevant or not.
Looking at some of the shit he's said over the years he's very much one of those "poor Christians are oppressed" types.
In 2007, Pence worried that a bill to protect gays and lesbians from workplace discrimination could be used to discriminate against Christians. "If an employee keeps a Bible in his or her cubicle, if an employee displays a Bible verse on their desk, that employee could be claimed by a homosexual colleague to be creating a hostile work environment," he said on the floor of the U.S. House.

In 2009, he opposed efforts to expand the definition of a hate crime to include the victim's sexual orientation, fearing that a pastor's sermon condemning gay sex could be considered hate speech. "This will have a chilling effect on religious expression, from the pulpits, in our temples, in our mosques and in our churches," he said. "And it must be undone."
http://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2016/01/04/what-we-know-gov-mike-pences-position-gay-rights/78257192/
And the cat runs away once again when presented with dissenting evidence. Where arth thou' op? Anyway, this is a great thing hopefully, as Trump supporters may be able to see his support for the LGBT community. Unfortunately, like his policies, 2 bad and 1 good don't make a right; and with the way he's going, it's more of a 15 bad and 1 good.
Wow, Trump doesn't fuck up on the issue - yet.
ok this is good. But lets see if he passes that Religious freedom bill before we can really tell how he cares about the LGBT community.
is that why he chose a VP who wants to zap homosexual people into liking the opposite gender
I'm pretty sick of this. I'm by far a Trump/Pence supporter but if you do a little research he never advocated for that, at most supported a bill or something that could have possibly affected funds for programs like it. Therefore he's probably still anti LGBT but it's a bit of a stretch to say he wants to zap all gays straight.
He was always fine with the LGBT community. http://www.advocate.com/election/2015/9/28/read-donald-trumps-advocate-interview-where-he-defends-gays-mexicans
Which is why he was against legalizing gay marriage and chose a vehemently anti LGBT as his vice president right.
Pence cannot be forgiven for that AIDS epidemic that he condemned Indiana to thanks to his shitty outmoded beliefs.
Pence is so antigay that the gop of his state had to stop him. Argue about "how antigay" he is all you want. In the end of the day, if trump truly cared for lgbt rights, he would have never chosen pence
Are we supposed to forget that anti-lgbt and discriminatory laws are mostly up to the states even with the current protections? Or that republicans continue to attempt to pass anti-gay legislation consistently? (e.g Cruz's 'First Amendment Defense Act') There's only 19 states that say you can't be fired for being gay iirc. Unless Trump actually did something positive, other than his usual "I'm going to be great, it's going to be great, trust me" who gives a fuck.
Also he isn't hateful of the LGBT community it seems. Just seems like a pretty typical (and probably better than the average) religious man.
1. He worked on a radio show in college that continuously made anti-gay statements. 2. Whether or not he knew about gay conversion therapy's shock treatments he still was in favor of helping people change their "sexual behavior". 3. He made Ohio infamous in the lgbtq community because you can literally deny someone's service for being gay. 3. He supported a proposed amendment to the constitution to make same-sex marriage illegal. 4. He was against the Shepard Hate Crimes Bill 6. He was on the board of an anti-gay group. (The Indiana Family Institute, which is responsible for most of the political attacks against lgbt rights in the state) But no. He's not hateful, he's just 'religious'. As if that definition made any of this okay.

The shitty ones are always the ones that get quoted. And yeah that's true. I mentioned it in the first sentence of my post. But again, this is an issue overwhelmingly at the state level. So Trump opening his blowhole again proves nothing.
so he has issued a statement that says hes going to continue what he did on the trail? so basically be humble when a gay guy is in the room but damn him when hes not
