You know this would be pretty cool if she wouldn't whisper all the fucking time

That is kinda the point of ASMR...
ASMR is one of those things that I will never understand. I guess I can understand if you get feel good feelings from it or whatever, but to me it's just terribly creepy.
The whole ASMR feel and the fact that the videos feel creepy as hell make me think that ASMR is somehow connected to psychology of breaching your personal space, aka you start to feel weirdly alarmed, and that back of the head sensation is something similar to goosebumps
Also this is the least triggering video I've ever saw
What the hell is ASMR?

not when her voice is annoying as fuck and she doesn't have a very good whispering voice
This worked really well, surprisingly
I'm in a weird spot because these things are weird and creepy, yet I find them so relaxing that I'm watching them anyway.
God damn those mouth slapping noses and lip smacking made me feel sick lmao
I felt extremely awkward throughout all of that, I'd rather have someone catch me watching porn

Porn is way easier to explain
I watch ASMR, but only the sound videos. Roleplays are very weird and uncomfortable. (Also there are a lot of bad ASMR channels out there, finding good ones is not easy)

ASMR? More like ACID
If I want to hear some space travel agent I would prefer her to speak up, her lip smacking is so annoying.
If I watch roleplays, I watch the normal ones like the exams or whatever. The more "creative" ones are really distracting and sometimes uncomfortable.
this is silly but jesus those effects are pretty great for a dumbass asmr video

im affected by ASMR myself and honestly they creep me out too
like I don't watch any of this stuff cause it kinda feels wrong,
only when its not being done on purpose does it not seem that bad
but then its still weird
Okay holy shit things get weirder and stupider in the next episode. Your secret identity is revealed as some doctor and you get inducted into a conspiracy to reveal a technology you created that allows human consciousness to be uploaded into a machine. What the fuck were these people thinking with this?
ASMR videos don't have to be creepy, it's just that the majority of them are since people really try to tailor it to trigger people (or just have a lot of fun with it). It'd be interesting to find out what it really is once more studies are done about it. Maybe then it wouldn't have to be so creepy since people won't have to throw crap at the wall to see what sticks.
If I were to try to explain ASMR to someone without creeping them out, (maybe some of you can get the jist of what ASMR might be from this) I'd show them any video that's quiet that has someone doing something in detail, like this - it isn't even an "ASMR" video.

Love me some great whisper vids but I can't handle roleplay ASMR, it's just too awkward most of the time unless it's in a language I don't know (for that cultural barrier).
What the hell is ASMR?
ASMR stands for "Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response." If I were to describe it, the best way would be to say that it's a tingling sensation felt throughout the areas along either the head, scalp, and/or spine, brought on by different stimuli. It's kind of like the feeling of chills you get when you walk into a cold room all of a sudden, albeit a lot more (for lack of a better term) relaxing. Not everyone experiences ASMR though, so it can be a bit hard to get an accurate idea of how it feels.
ASMR can be "triggered" by many different things, mostly quiet sounds (scratching on wood/cardboard, the crinkling of a plastic wrapper, etc.), and as such it's fairly subjective. For some, these sounds include whispering, and because of this, it's completely understandable for videos like the one in the OP to come off as strange or creepy. As for the whole role-play aspect of ASMR, most of that comes from different people on YouTube putting their own spin on things, and trying to be more creative than just sitting in front of a camera for an hour fiddling with some plastic. Of course, whether such acting makes or breaks any given video is left to the eye of the beholder.
Personally I love the videos from this guy
Most of his videos are just stuff he finds around his house and improvises on them, like this one:

Sometimes I can do Roleplay but other times I just feel awkward.
Am i the only one who HATES the ASMR effect?
My back twitches like fuck - it's especially annoying when it happens to me in video games
Weird stereo sounds such as this one cause it for me:

Mine is Kaiju sounds.
Seriously.
Godzilla roars make me feel very comfortable for some reason.
oh boy another asmr thread
asmr is pretty diverse, it doesn't have to involve whispering at all (or even be intentional)
for example, bob ross is considered the "king" of asmr (because of his soft spoken voice, the sounds from painting and his positive demeanor) unintentional obviously

how about an intentional history video by a frenchman with a silky smooth voice?

or a video of someone who can make candy food as appetizing as real food (unintentional + no talking)?

or something so weird you get desensitized to weird? (disclaimer, ER is my favorite asmrtist)

The whispering videos make me want to punch them in the face for some reason - they genuinely make me angry instead of relaxed :tinfoil:
Sucks to your assmar
