Too bad it already gave out the bad impression everyone gets during its launch

But still, way better than Rivals
I haven't heard anyone talk positively about this game. Neat?
I heard some of the races are rigged as fuck
this is the game's fmv scenes summarized

"unlocked framerate" is that a feature now lmao
The cars looks really good though.
Pretty awesome of them using Get Low for the trailer, brings back some good memories.
I played this on the PS4, I can definitely understand where most of the criticism is coming from, but it's still a fun racing game and still a good step up from the past few newer Need for Speed titles. Selection of cars is pretty varied and not just exclusively exotic supercars, cool customization, the graphics look great (though shame that the only time of days are rainy nights, and rainy early dawn). I might pick up the PC version again later down the road if I can get it on a sale, 60fps and the convenience of alt tabbing for my own soundtrack will extend my playtime with the game.
Nothing like driving the AE86 and blasting out eurobeat, drifting like crazy on the mountain roads.

They are trying to capture the spirit of NFSU and NFSU2 but imho they failed hard. Its always nighttime, its always raining, and the camera gimmick where it zooms in to drift is way too fucking annoying.
The races are rigged where the other drivers rubber-band if your too fast or slow down when you are too slow.
The cops are a non factor, they either do jack shit or just randomly teleport behind you and just stay there.
Customization is really lacking on the higher tier vehicles, You can barely do anything to the lambo's and rwb porsche for example. On the same note with customization, Your garage can only hold a maximum of 5 cars at a time. Doesn't make sense.
The game is still online only... Sigh...
And worst of all, the Acting. The Acting from the people is just terribly awful. They are literally talking to a mute guy in a way that the script is made by old desk people from EA trying to be Hip and Cool. Either Hire better actors, make a better script, ditch the scenes all together, or just do it like Old NFS did and just do Phone calls and voice messages like Most Wanted did.
One more thing, No in-car camera. You gives us wheel and manual transmission option but no first person camera? What is the point.
If you really are looking at a driving game for PC, Look at Dirt Rally. It is the best Driving game for PC at the moment.

Graphics are beautiful, there is a pretty great level of customization for most cars, as well as a huge roster of cars, and the game itself plays very well. The story is nothing incredible but they played around with it and tried to make the cutscenes fun, even if most found them cringe worthy. Overall the game is pretty great actually, my main complaint being that there doesn't seem to be a way to choose which songs you want to hear in game unlike most EA games, but they do allow you to skip songs.

marketing buzzwords
but I really do like the amount of effort the development team have put into it

To be fair, NFSU and NFSU2 were always nighttime too, minus the moisture. :v: (Still I do wish it had more time of day settings yeah)
The zooming effect while drifting is completely optional, it's one of the camera modes in the game. The 3rd person views are 'Near, Far, and Dynamic', with Dynamic giving the zooming effect and other 'cinematic' angles like zooming in your rear tire while accelerating with the handbrake.
Rubber band AI is definitely an issue, and its one of the main detractors of the game.
Cops are between 'meh' and 'okay', would had been better if they were as aggressive as Most Wanted 2005, but at least they aren't annoying and they serve the purpose well enough on mixing things up between races.
Yeah the garage limit is kind of a bummer, they should had either given an option to just purchase upgrades for more slots or just gave infinite slots, or at least one for each car available in-game.
Online only was also annoying, lost a few races because my net would drop out for a second and the game would boot me out immediately in a middle of a race.
Didn't really mind the live action acting, it was bad but it reminded me of the live action sequences in Most Wanted and Undercover, so it gave a cheesy good effect in the end, and they're skippable so it wasn't too much of a distraction.
I love cockpit view in games, and I would had loved it if it was included in the game too.
DiRT is a pretty good series, and Rally is definitely one of the better driving games out there but I really wouldn't compare and categorized it with Need for Speed. DiRT is veering more on to simulation territory with a few arcade-y mechanics to make it more approachable compared to full on simulation racing games. The Need for Speed series (minus the Shift series which were a simulation spinoff set, and Porsche Unleashed) had always been about fast arcade-y street racing fun, which I think Need for Speed 2015/2016 still manages to provide, and is the closest to a current-gen version of Underground, even if it is watered downed in a lot of its aspects. Would easily recommend the game on a sale.
Can we also talk about its soundtrack? Heard all of them, most of them are terrible
The NFSU[del]2[/del] 1 fanboy side of me is saying "Holy shit. Get Low. You need to buy this now." but based on console reviews and what most of you have said I might have to skip it. :/

I think it's mentioned because Rivals was locked at 30 fps on PC.
Ain't convinced until they add Spiderbait - Black Berry.

get low was in NFSU1 you fffucking
honestly, it's pretty decent. not really worth $60, but what game is these days? it's pretty much the only recent game about street racing and customizing your car that i can think of, so if you're a fan of that, it might be worth it to you. not to mention ghost has been pretty good about adding new parts and stuff into the game, even some new events where you can win Eddie's Skyline from NFSU1 (if you can get past some fucking awful time attack events)
on that note, the rubber band AI fucking SUCKS in the later missions, but every NFS game i've ever played is like that too so that's to be expected
While it looks ok, I can't really stand a game with perpetual nighttime, it just makes me sleepy.
[QUOTE=Spectre1406;49725129]Can we also talk about its soundtrack? Heard all of them, most of them are terrible[/QUOTE]
just turn off the music and put on a eurobeat playlist :^)
[QUOTE=RedStar;49725258]get low was in NFSU1 you fffucking[/QUOTE]
Oh god you're right im so sorry.
I have it on Xbone. The cars are modeled really nicely, but it's hard to paint them the way you like, because the lighting in the garage is nothing like the lighting in the world. Also, you can only have up to 5 cars at a time. And I think that even by NFS standards, the car handling is baaad.
The cars look great, and the tuning is the most in-depth I've seen in a racing game. Sadly, that's really the only pros I have for it.
A bit surprised EA recognized the potential of marketing this game as an Underground comeback. People have been asking for this for years, and they were completely silent
online only & unskippable cutscenes (probably) (cutscenes at all, why story in a fucking racing game)? i have literally no interest in this :v:
Did they choose this song because the game is coming "to the Windows"?
[sp]I'm sorry[/sp]

'why a story in a racing game'
torch the non-believer, he doesn't know true NFS
The only real NFS is NFS:SE

They don't make em like they used to, get off my lawn, kids these days, etc.

There was one flashy nfs with cutscenes I played on 360, every time I lost I had to rewatch that terrible uninteresting cutscene. Never encountered them before.
So the question is - is it even close to U1?
Personally, I fucking love this game. This is the game I've been waiting for since Burnout Paradise. The drifting and handling mechanics are pretty customizable, and allow you to really control how your car feels. It's also fucking beautiful.
[editline]12th February 2016[/editline]
The story is absolute trash though and the characters make me want to drink fucking clorox
how is "manual transmission" in a fucking car game a selling point
[editline]12th February 2016[/editline]
like surely that should just be standard

"True NFS" is Hot Pursuit and High Stakes, the NFS games with story are the franchise that EA bastardized.
