Kooky, but true: EA Sports have, in the run-up to Christmas, opened two actual storefronts dedicated entirely to EA Sports Active (and, we guess, it's expansion). One is in San Francisco, the other, Boston.
Can't say we can remember the last time a single game got its own store. Actually, it's rare a game company gets its own store, so a one-title shop is just bananas.
There's a catch, though; both stores are only open for a limited time, with the shutters coming down on December 14.
oh its just a holiday thing
I wonder how much the rent comes to on a place like that, and what profits they will make.
Maybe it's a publicity stunt as well?
The next on EA's list of corporate moves: Buy a Death Star.
With the EA logo painted on the side of it
Anyway this is pretty much a move to generate hype for the game than it is for the stores to actually make a profit
fucking godamnit ea

Meh, I see wal-mart fast "food" in the future.
I'm pretty sure the stupidest thing they've ever done is shutting down pandemic.

Precisely what I was thinking.
It's representative. I have no problem with that.
It's not very smart to underestimate EA.
They are not stupid enough to expect an income from those stores.
I bet they keep these stores open as dedicated EA stores after the holidays.

Looks like something out of Mirror's edge
Whats so great about this? Its not really stupid in my opinion, just a way to get people to come in and try their products that normally don't play games.
Next up: L4D store.
That is just stupid, but knowing the American people it will probgably become a huge success due to our stupidity.
I like pointless stores like that. I go in, look around and walk right back out, but it passes a few minutes or so.
So this is where all of our millions of dollars in Dragon Age "DLC" purchases went...
EA SPORTS: THE GAMES THAT I NEVER PLAY
