Beautiful.
This fucking song has been stuck in my head ever since the trailer leaked. Damn you, Kojima.

I do hope though, that it becomes a 11/10 game, instead of a huge flop (doubtful) or just not up to the hype and disappointing.

A numbered MGS game has never been a flop thankfully and I doubt this will, especially from some of the recent gameplay videos floating around it looks great, has a lot of the fun and charm from 3 from the looks of it, but also serious at the same time, a lot more serious than 3 is.
I mean MGSV is like the HL3/EP3 of the MGS universe, it finishes the Metal Gear arc, assuming nothing comes out thats after 4 or before 3 (I know MGR exists and is canon but I mean a MGS game)
Plus the open world shit sounds amazing, knowing this is a MGS game there will be a lot of cutscenes, BUT since its huge open world you will have a fuckload of gameplay that is completely up to you, unlike the others which are very linear, like it wont be a MGS4 where you have 10 hours of cutscenes and very little gameplay time between them. So instead, now you can just fuckoff and do what you want for however long before advancing. This has been my biggest gripe with the series, I fucking love the cutscenes but I dont like getting control after a long cutscene to do like 5 minutes of gameplay for another 10 minute cutscene.
It really looks like a mix between 3 and Peace Walker but on steroids which is great.

Everyone seems to think this but Kojima's actually been on record saying otherwise.
Q: With the main arc of Metal Gear Solid 5 — Phantom Pain — set very close to the time of the first Metal Gear, is this game about closing the circle?
Kojima: I wouldn't say that exactly. It's another adventure for Big Boss.
I know Kotaku's not a great source, but those words are apparently straight from Kojima's mouth.
we still need to see ww2 from the boss' perspective

if we get a game where we play as the boss i will be able to die happy, even if it's just in a small section.

Thats what im wishing for, that could be such a good fucking game its not even funny, and its honestly not that far fetched. Plus it would be really cool to see how Kojima and all them handle WW2, its not like its made up shit MGS has normally been. Would probably end up being the darkest and most depressing, especially considering thats pretty much how the Boss came off in MGS3.

cobra unit flashback, please based kojambles
A lot of people think that MGS:V will be the final arc of the MGS series, but I don't think that'll be the case.
The thing about the MGS series is that all of the main games have been of amazing quality. MGS2 is disliked for many reasons (some of which valid, some not) yet it's still an amazing game. If you look at the mechanics of all of the main games, they're all different from one another as Kojima experiments with different forms of gameplay and systems that players have at their disposal. MGS4 is considered by many (including myself) to be one long movie, and yet it too is still amazing. I haven't once looked back at MGS4 and thought that I didn't actually like how it played out (more cutscene hours than gameplay hours) because it was designed that way, and the quality was so high all the way through.
Because of how many characters we have been introduced to, and how many adventures they've all had, the universe has an absolutely huge amount of potential content for games. If I had to make a guess, I'd say that Kojima could easily put out another 5 games without the quality of the games falling. The issue is, expectations rise with each subsequent game.
I've been hyped for and purchased every single Metal Gear game, and I'll probably do so if there's any releases after TPP, as the universe has so much potential for unique stories, and Kojima really isn't restricted in terms of storytelling like the overwhelming majority of games are, thanks to all the little plot devices he has quietly placed in to the series over the years.
One of the biggest reasons why the games are as good as they are and have such a huge fan response upon announcement to release is due to the time between releases. Because they're so long, and because the previous games have been so good, there's a lot of trust and yearning in Kojima products.
Even with MGS:V, there's a shitload of stuff that has yet to be resolved. There's also a huge pot of potential content in the form of Boss focused games, which span the WW2/Cold War era, that are filled with their own unique brand of wackiness. Then there's other characters that we know have had interactions with the main cast, but we never see these interactions in games. You could make an entire game about Big Boss and Decoy Octopus.
Basically, as long as Kojima is confident that he can create a solid MGS product, he'll go with it. Funding would never be an issue, and he has proven that he is as loyal to his fans as they are to him.
Good god MGS is a good series.
in my dreams of the mgs game featuring the boss, the buttonspam segment usually relegated to being tortured would instead be [sp]giving birth to ocelot on the battlefield[/sp]

Well, it'd be less about giving birth and more about struggling to stay conscious as you have your stomach cut open, as The Boss had a cesarean section. In its own way, that's way more badass than just giving birth.

I really just want a boss game now, its way too perfect to pass up.
