"...and the cost is more than I can bear." Such an underrated movie. It has one of the best movie villains of all time, Colonel "Burn the Church" Tavington. The whole movie is on youtube, so you really have no excuse to not watch it. Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger put out great performances, as well as Jason Issacs. Besides who doesn't like to see Mel Gibson fucking up redcoats with a tomahawk?
aaaaaaaa fuckin mel gibson. i like my revolutionary war movies at least slightly accurate, thanks
I watched it, it was a pretty good movie. I liked the part where he went into the forest and ambushed the redcoats then ax-murdered the guy.
This movie is shown every Fourth of July, one of the best performances by Mel I've ever seen. Over-dramatized sure, but the characters and battles are based on real people.
Except the Swamp Fox and his men weren't a rag tag group of guerillas. They were an organized militia, led by a Colonial Army officer.

More like "Not really based on real people, but we gave them the same names and sort of kind of the same professions."
sorta like braveheart
Except the Swamp Fox and his men weren't a rag tag group of guerillas. They were an organized militia, led by a Colonial Army officer.
They used thirty year old muskets and homemade weapons are you high?
They used thirty year old muskets and homemade weapons are you high?
so did most of the continental army. doesnt mean that they were all guerrilla fighters, because they werent.
Love this movie.
Fun movie.
I always stay up to watch this, really great.
I love this movie.
Badass.
I like it because it's on of the few movies out there with actual line battles.
We need to see more movies in that era. I remember The Patriot and The Last of the Mohicans as the only two decent movies (personally) taking place in that era.
I liked the line formation scenes.
The scene where he stabbed the dude with the flag is so great.
I watched this in US History. We were told to write down what we loved about the movie. My response: It has Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, and explosions. Seriously, what's not to love? I got full credit for the answer which made me giggle a little bit.

More like "Not really based on real people, but we gave them the same names and sort of kind of the same professions."
They tried their hardest to make the British look evil (burning churches and killing women and children) and make Americans look like they treated their slaves kindly and bonded with them in the end lol, this film is about as accurate to history as Indiana Jones. I still like it a lot and can even tolerate Mel Gibson, but this is the last film you should watch for historical accuracy.
Tomahawks. They're the ultimate symbol of American' Liberty!
i always love the scene where the guerrilla gets his leg destroyed by the rolling cannonball [editline]1st November 2010[/editline] but if you take away the guns and shit the entire movie is, like, exactly the same as we were soldiers hahaha
braveheart and the patriot both deal with FREEEEEEEDDAAAAWWWWWWMM!!!!!!!
I want to watch this movie again.
