So I'm pretty much wanting to work two part time jobs as a student, because one of my jobs (Target) gives a very unreliable amount of hours. One week they'll want me working a decent amount of hours to pay the bills (20+ hours a week), the next thing I know I get 10 hours a week which is barely enough to pay rent.
The problem is, there's not a single job for a student around here that can really give any reliable amount of hours at all. So I figure... get two jobs!
Except I have no idea how to pull this off. I mean, how will I make my schedule so they don't conflict?
Also, is there anything special involved with having two jobs versus one?
I'm thinking about trying pizza delivery as my second job.
I'm not too much worried about time. I only want 20-30 hours at the most per week. I'm not obsessed with money (being hypothetically paid $1.5k a month might be nice but overkill for me at the moment, I'll worry about getting a big paying job after school) and I don't have any debts to pay other than monthly rent/bills on the standard stuff. So I figure if I ration 10-15 hours a week per job that'll leave me in a position of having money to easily pay bills and then a little bit extra for whatever/savings.
Anyone else working two (part-time) jobs? Any advice on places to work or things to do for it?
do you do anal too?

Pizza delivery seems like a good thing to go with.
Try and find a job with consistant hours and get rid of the other? after you get it ofcourse.
You are a student, you have 1.5k a month, and you still think it's not enough?

Or am I reading it wrong?

It's never bad to get some more if you're (more than) able to.
Remember to tell both your employers that you have a second job and need to balance the hours accordingly.
Assuming you're a student at University, see if the school has jobs part time. Not only does this make going to and from work/school easier but some times they offer credits for it. A particular school I'm interested in runs a national daily news show, and the camera men are hired part time. They aren't even a part of the film classes, but they can work at the school, get experience for a resume, and make money.
A benefit in pizza delivery is all the cash in porn you'll get too. I say you go for it, my friend.:buddy:

That's the problem, for part time such a job simply does not exist.
When you work part time, you are expendable. If the month (or entire season) is slow you'll always have a very low amount of hours per week, if at all.
Since the ONLY jobs where I live that ever offer any hirings outside of seasonal positions is retail (aka no hours after xmas) and food service (aka sell your soul and also fuck with your hours), I don't have that option.

Read it wrong. I was saying IF I made 1.5k a month that would be great, but I really don't feel the need to make that much money a month as a student, especailly in order for that to happen I'd have to sell myself to working more than full time at your standard minimum wage job while doing school. I enjoy my free time too much to go for that. I make about $550 a month IF it's a good month.
The only thing you can really do is give Target an availability form - tell them you can't work X and X days (Typically the ones they're less likely to give you) and tell the second job you CAN work on those two days.
Works out until you start getting phone calls from Target saying "OH MAN WE TOTALLY NEED YOU IN AT THE LAST MOMENT BECAUSE MANAGEMENT IS SO HORRIBLE AND WE JUST GOT CALLED UP WITH A SICK DAY AND BAWW WE NEED YOOOOOOU".
I know the horrors of department stores all too well, sadly.
I was actually going to try to give some helpful feedback and advice here, but I realized that my ideas were flawed and wouldn't work out. With that said, I leave you with this:
If all else fails, be prepared to suck some fat management dick.
OP, have you ever considered working at a call center?
Ugh, not my kind of job. I can hardly talk on the telephone with a friend let alone a stranger, I prefer face-to-face stuffs.
Plus, most call centers around here only hire full time. I need part time, so I can do school.
I was going to suggest working as an Xbox customer representative (pretty laid back job, and you can work part time), but since you said you don't like talking on the phone, you'll hate it after 2 days... :/

See about getting a night position at k-mart while you can. I work 6pm-12am. There's also 12am-6am shifts.

(It looks kind of scummy, but that is their actual app site)
A bit of advice: If you decide to sign up, they're going to ask you how much you want to get paid. Do not put minimum. Put like $9.00 or $8.50 (or about 1.75 over minimum in your state) so this way they'll try and haggle with you and it will lower a bit (if not, that's 9 fucking dollars an hour for monkey work) but you'll end up with maybe 8.50-8.00 if they are feeling greedy. It doesn't sound like shit, but it all adds up.
Graveyard shifts ftw!
Suck dick in alleyways for nickels. It is a legitimate career path.
Get a government job, they are usually extremely flexible and you can easily work around your schedule for school.
Pizza delivery services don't pay WONDERFULLY, but it's not that bad. The only problem is the customers.
I had two jobs washing dishes and pushing carts at Best Buy and the only reason it worked out was that the dishes were from 2 - 8 and the carts were from 9 - 12.
My advice, coffee and lots of it.
I worked 9 hours/week at Currys, and about 48 hours/week at a Sainsbury's Distribution warehouse... until I ran myself over with a LLOP. fuck. Had to quit both because of university. now i work 24hours/week at a supermarket just to get me through university.
I was on crazy money, like £2000/month for an 18 year old it's not bad going.
It's totally worth the money, and double if you enjoy it too. BUt you start to see your friends/family less and that side of things blows.
Good luck anyway

I have to agree with this, I'll be up on three hours of sleep with coffee and that's the only way sometimes I would get through my days.
Well I'm not looking at getting two jobs at near full time hours. Hell if I could get near full time hours with target all the time I'd just stick with one job. For now I figure I'll be good with just have 15 hours a week at target (what they give me now if they are feeling generous) and 15 hours a week at whatever.

How exactly do you just "get a government job"?
Especially one that is part time? The only places that even bother putting anything in the classifieds here are your standard "community college teachers", "nursing assistant" etc. I wasn't even aware the government even hired anyone that didn't have some kind of degree or qualifications/etc.
