• Far-right UKIP overtake labour because of 'protest votes'

The far-right party UKIP (United Kingdom Independance Party) have overtaken labour, with BNP following closely behind. UKIP's won the votes with posters stating, 'Say No to paying the EU £40 million a day' They say that they will withdraw from Europe, saving the money for 'more important British things'. In their party broadcast they say that every man woman and child in the UK already owes Gordon Brown £2,000 because of the debt the country is in, and that unnecessarily paying the EU such a substantial ammount is simply making things worse. They describe the EU as a club with 'the most expensive membership in the world' with 'little benefits'. The BNP (British National Party) have also won 2 seats. The BNP say they will withdraw from Europe, and disallow companies in Britain to import any workers. They have won over the public with their 'British Jobs for British Workers' campagn after hundreds of workers walked out after 1,000 available jobs were being given to Italian workers at half the wage. Their leader, Nick Griffin says, "The British public have shown what they think, this country isn't a free-for-all, the healthcare is British, the jobs are British, and it's the British that should come first. This isn't racism, the country is in a mess, and this is how to solve it" The Labour MPs have said that these parties are becoming more popular simply because of 'protest votes'. "With the MP's expenses scandal, people have lost faith in the British government, and out of protest have voted a far-right party such as UKIP or the BNP" Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8089108.stm and mostly from GMTV
Good, maybe Labour will learn to not do what they please next time around.
I wouldn't really class UKIP as far right. Further right than Conservatives, yes, but to be fair there's not that much of a difference between Labour and the Tories now.
Centre right tbh.
V for vendetta
Well, at least the Conservatives still have the majority.
So wait.. Who won?
So wait.. Who won?
Noone wins.
I voted UKIP and it was not a protest vote because I voted labour in the local elections. If youre looking for protest votes, look at the fucking conservatives, they practically ask for them in their stupid adverts "Sick of labour government, vote conservative, we dont actually include any of our policies in our ads anymore, were just taking advantage of the way the governments being portrayed in the media"
I heard on the radio this morning they were talking to the BNP leader and they kept asking about the racism and he was like "God, the BBC is OBSESSED with the racism rumours! JUST STOP IT!" [editline]05:06PM[/editline] What is the point in UKIP winning local elections? They can't leave the EU until they run the country...
lol, rumours.

Looks like we've run out of time to tell you what we'll actually do, but we'll do something.."

Good work Britain, electing racists and fascists as usual.

Were lucky to have a prime minister who actually used to be a chancellor during the recession, and hes doing a very good job. I hope he doesnt step down, MPs are blaming him for the expenses scandal (somehow), even though he wasnt involved, and calls are expecially coming from the conservative party, even though they were the worst affected with the expenses (contrary to what the media says). If we get someone like Cameron in power, things will go downhill, i can guarantee that.
Norsefire, here we come! EDIT: What's the deal with all the British right wing nationalism recently? Haven't some of them had their own grandfathers killed by fascist bombs, and they're still voting for them? I'm an American though, so I don't know the intricacies of British politics. OP sounds like an exaggeration.
EDIT: What's the deal with all the British right wing nationalism recently?
It's because of the local elections, all the parties are going "holy smokes vote for us :)"
vote bnp
No thanks, I'm not keen on facism in my nation.

But Gordon Brown has just said, "Alright, it's a mess, but they haven't broken any rules, so it's OK."

You wont be saying that when some raghead takes your job for half the wage you got. (User was banned for this post ("Racism" - TH89))
You wont be saying that when some raghead takes your job for half the wage you got.
Your abit clueless ain't you mate. It's this kind of ignorent reasoning that resulted in them getting their 2 seats. Ultimatly their Nazi's in a suit & tie. Not "politicians" as we generally see them. However greedy the ones we have in power are now, their far better than the thugs that would come into power and bring about rule that over half a centuary ago our great grandparents fought and died to protect. Vote for anyone, anyone at all. Except the BNP.

Like this guy Oh.. And they didn't fight to let a bunch of immigrants take British peoples jobs.
Why can't it be a far-left party instead :(
