Speaking at a recent press event for Zombie Army Trilogy, Rebellion co-founder and 2000AD owner Jason Kingsley said that while the studio missed the boat to create a console and PC tie-in for the 2012 Dredd movie, future Dredd games are something he’d love to see.

“I’d personally love to see a game that has settings both within Mega City One and also out in the Cursed Earth too,” Kingsley told us, referring to Judge Dredd’s setting. “I have to emphasise that we’re not currently working on any new Judge Dredd game, but it’s one of the ideas that is with us in the background. We definitely haven’t abandoned the idea, we’re just not working on one.” “The problem was the release date of the movie,” said Kingsley. “We didn't have the release date to allow us to make a good game. The movie was meant to come out just after the new year and it didn’t come out until September. If we had known it was coming out in September we would have had enough time to make a game. We were finishing off some other titles and we just didn’t have the space.”

Whether Rebellion does make a Judge Dredd game for consoles and PC partly hinges on whether the Dredd movie gets a sequel. Kingsley says there’s talks going on “behind the scenes” and there’s a fan petition to make that happen. If it does, Rebellion could begin development of the game. “Yeah. Hopefully we will,” said Kingsley of the prospect. “We’ll have to find the money to make it. We’d have to be comfortable, we’d have to have spare resources. But yeah, we’re very interested.”
http://www.xboxachievements.com/news/news-20500-Sniper-Elite-Developer-Interested-in-Making-a-Judge-Dredd-Game.html
Fuck. Yes.
I really liked Nazi Zombie Army and Sniper Elite 2. The games are a tad railroaded but they are really fun for long periods of time and had interesting challenges of their own. I'd kill for a Dredd game
I enjoyed Dredd vs Death because of it's arrest mechanic and how you saw the sentences you gave people. I wouldn't mind one like the new reboot film. Did anyone else even see Dredd I thought it was just me and my friends.
Cool. As long as it's the comic version of Judge Dredd with dark humor and bright neon colors like the Dredd vs Death and not the modern realistic movie Dredd, even though I loved the movie.
it had better have gore other than the xray view the shit in se2 and 3 is pathetic
Doesn't Rebellion own 2000ad? What's stopping them from making a Judge Dredd game other than the fact that the movie already came out? That's not really something that should stop the concept from happening.
make it open world, let me arrest people and see the charges a la Dredd vs Death, and let me enact justice.
“We’ll have to find the money to make it. We’d have to be comfortable, we’d have to have spare resources. But yeah, we’re very interested.”
Sadly, that's the same reason on why we're not getting a Dredd sequel.
Personally I'd prefer another Rogue Trooper game to be honest. I love Judge Dredd but I've always liked Rogue Trooper more. Plus there's tons of other 2000ad comics that could be good material for games. ABC warriors, Strontium Dog and Flesh could spawn some cool games too if the settings are used right for instance.

While the Dredd movie with Karl Urban was pretty badass, I loved the original comic version in 2000AD. Hell I have a copy of Program 1400 on my shelf, the one with Big Deal At Drekk City, and I remember reading The Apocalypse War many years ago. Speaking of 2000AD, who remembers Rogue Trooper and the shooter adaptation? I sure as hell did, played that shit on GameTap back in the day...
Oh my god, yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Maybe not Rebellion, but I would play the hell out of this game.
Any chance of getting more Dredd outside of 2000ad comics would be awesome. i spent hours playing the game that came out on xbox, and the Dredd 3d film is my favourite film of all time.
I NEED THIS. WHERE GET.
you can get it on steam, i got it for like £1.50 in a sale
This is the same Rebellion that also produced Shellshock 2, AvP (2010), and Rogue Warrior. I'm not getting excited at the prospect of another Dredd game because Rebellion's track record is kind of ehhhh. Sniper Elite is clunky but good, but Rebellion is really inconsistent.
I had a lot of fun with the AVP2010 demo too but I never bought the full game because everyone said it was shit.

Yeah it was pretty fuckin' neat. You effectively had a shop on your back, since Bagman could turn Salvage into items like medkits and explosives (and ammo, of course). Plus you could set Gunnar down as a rifle turret while you switched to your Pistol, really neat for defending an area. Also let's not forget one of the best things in the game, being able to shoot a Nort's gastank, watch him flail around frantically and then explode forward, damaging any other poor sods nearby. Such an enjoyable mechanic, and I wish more games did implemented it. Didn't Necrovision have enemies with shootable gastanks? Well, that's one feature to implement into a shooter if I ever make one; enemies with shootable gastanks/jetpacks for panicky explosive fun-time!

It's definitely not as much of a butchered game as Aliens: Colonial Marines, I think we gave Rebellion too much shit for AvP 2010.
Please fucking yes. Dredd is highly deserving of a return on all fronts. Need a god-tier ost like VS Death had though.
i wonder if the (non sniper rifle) gunplay will be just as bad as sniper elite 2 and 3
If we don't get a button that makes you shout 'I am the law', I'm not interested.
Wasn't there a gang in the dreddverse that was pretty much people who was uber fat? Maybe if the mechanics are similar to the Sniper series shooting at them would be pretty much moot because of all the fat they have. You could see realistically how your bullets dig into their fat filled bodies to no effort.

Man, I remember the first screenshots for that game in the PC Gamer magazine. It looked so incredible, but the finished game, not so much.

"10-14! Posession of a goldfish without a permit!" High ex. Blam. Then you get to watch a perp's insides become outsides with the cams from sniper elite. Make it happen
