• Hillary Clinton: Hamas Operates in Civilian Areas Because ‘Gaza is Pretty Small’
    31 replies, posted
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explained that Hamas hides their military weapons among civilians due mainly to geography, not religious extremism or hatred of the state of Israel. In an interview with Fusion TV, Clinton said “Hamas puts its missiles, its rockets in civilian areas; part of it is because Gaza is pretty small and it’s densely populated.” At no time does Clinton mention the official charter of Hamas, a terrorist organization, which denies the right of Israel to exist and asks all Muslims to help “obliterate” it:
“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."
But, it seems Sec. Clinton believes geographical limitations trump deeply-held religious hatred, in terms of motivations for terrorism. Another classic Clintonism.
Since it's not letting me edit OP, here's a video of her saying it. The fact that someone this ignorant was Secretary of State worries me.
While they may not have many places to put them, it doesn't justify having them or using them.
I'm pretty sure they put them in schools and hospitals because they know Israel will bomb them anyway, and then they can use the pictures and death tolls of children to fuel their cause.
I think what she had in mind was that they don't have enough power to wage conventional war, so they may resort to more brutal tactics to stand a chance.
Another classic Clintonism.
And she's totally right. Gaza is a speck of shit on the map, all border crossing has been closed for months now, but its OK because we all know Gazans can just evacuate to other bombing sites in the strip. She's indirectly criticizing the Israeli defenses that are along the lines of "We kill so many Palestinians because their rockets are also placed near civilian centers" by saying that it merely is a byproduct of Israel's policy to maintain Gaza as an open-air prison. Of course in such ghetto-based resistances, everything will be near civilians because you confined them to the ghetto in the first place.
I wonder when starplu- God damn it.
I'm all for a female president. But for the love of god please don't let it be Clinton.

So my question is, are schools and hospitals the only place Hamas could store such things? Not in the homes of their own officials or militants? Not in the apartments controlled by Hamas? No, they have to be in schools for innocent children whom are not even old enough to understand the conflict at large?
Don't run for president please. Because if she wins we may as well make the US a dynastic monarchy.

They don't have a chance in hell to win a military victory so they go for the propaganda victory. Dead children go towards that goal. Anyone who thinks Hamas cares about Palestinians is kidding themselves. Not that Israel doesn't have part of the blame for falling right into Hamas trap though.

It seems they'd prefer to wipe them out as quick and dirty as possible and deal with the fallout of that rather than take the time and effort to implement a different strategy or run the risk of Hamas continuing to exist.

First there's no such thing as rockets being hidden in hospitals. That is untrue. There has been three cases where the UN found hidden rockets in buildings but they were all in vacant schools not being used as shelters. There is a pretty big difference between saying "Hamas stored rockets in three abandoned buildings" and "Hamas stores rockets in hospitals/shelters" Really big difference. [editline]30th July 2014[/editline]
Not that Israel doesn't have part of the blame for falling right into Hamas trap though.
Israel did not fall into any trap. They are not stupid.
A: Hamas WANTS Israel to kill kids so it can use them for propaganda. B: So don't kill the kids? A: No we have to kill the kids.
Which is it Facepunch? Is Hillary Rodham Clinton a voice of clarity or the worst thing ever
For one, those aren't all the same people rating both posts. For another, regardless of how good or bad she is doesn't mean every particular statement is wrong or good. She can be a shit person for president but be right on this matter.

It's almost as if you can't simply ask Facepunch in general for it's opinion on things because it may not all believe the same thing?
Not Hamas's fault that Israel repeatedly bites the same schmuck bait over and over again.
Well considering Hamas is the one laying the bait yeah it sort of is
And she's totally right. At worst, they welcome them. Clinton is right, Gaza is tiny and you can hardly find a place to park a car that isn't within shrapnel range of innocent civilians. However, that really doesn't justify anything Israel is doing. If they really wanted to minimize civilian casualties, they would engineer a way to get people the fuck out of Gaza, instead of locking them in while the bombs rain down. That said, this is what passes for criticism of Israel in American politics? Really? "Well, it's hard to avoid civilians, because Gaza is small"?

While you can imply that Hamas possesses a universally-encompassing grip that shadows the planet, the Western media does not fear airing views critical of the pro-Palestinian sentiment.

The administrative organ of the UN is equally fed up with these "IDF press release videos" that you insist on linking.
So as usual, you only accept sources that support your narrative. Hamas word of mouth and anyone reporting it is better than IDF photographic evidence. Look, all sources are biased. More so at wartime. Especially Hamas and the IDF. And everyone probably lies to some degree. The best way to form an opinion on all this is to get as many points of view as possible. For example, 3 soldiers were killed today when a building exploded while they were uncovering a tunnel exit. Here's the report from Times of Israel saying it was an UNRWA clinic. Here's Maan saying it was just a building. You decide. While you can imply that Hamas possesses a universally-encompassing grip that shadows the planet, the Western media does not fear airing views critical of the pro-Israeli sentiment.
Because correspondents inside Hamas controlled Gaza get death threats if they don't report what Hamas tells them. See the tweets by this Italian reporter that got out. Also the last tweet was from Times reporter John Reed, and it's obviously not redacted. Also this:
These are the same cameras that can't tell the difference between a fruit market and a missile site.
From what I've read it's the recorder quality that degrades the image quality. In the helicopters the quality is much better.
