If you use the Internet to pay for things, most likely you use PayPal on a regular basis.

For the past six years, three ex-SNK fighting veterans have been toiling away at their own independent fighting game, Yatagarasu: Attack on Cataclysm. Hoping to expand, the team turned to Indiegogo and asked for $68,000. Fans rewarded them with enough enthusiasm to raise $118, 243, nearly twice the original goal.
Then, the money disappeared. PayPal, which handles transactions between creators and fans on Indiegogo, locked down the developer’s account, and said it could only have 50% of the funds. The rest would be released as development continued, based on PayPal’s assessment of the situation. PayPal was, essentially, going to become a producer on Yatagarasu going forward.
“This has nothing to do with payment processing,” said Nyu Media founder Seon King, one of the project leads. “And they’re kind of allowing themselves to join the project in a policing role where we become accountable to them. That was really ridiculous to read, to have to consider.”
Millions upon millions have been raised by game fans, and with FTL and Shadowrun Returns proving it can work, there’s few signs this new funding mechanism is going anywhere. If anything, we can expect more players to get involved. But the money is a pretty key component.

Paypal is the enemy of virtually everything. They look for any reason to lock an account so they can just keep the funds in it.
PayPal is a scam? Who knew?
PayPal really wasn't that bad until eBay stepped in. They used to be hip and cool just like all the other dotcom boom companies.
I actually get paid through PayPal for an online business. Not a fun article to read with that looming over my head.
I've been using paypal for years, and it seems to me like they're good for paying with, but not so good for getting paid with.
Years ago paypal used to protect the sellers alot moreso than the buyers but now everything is reversed. Paypal will do anything to protect the buyer because they know that a frozen sellers account has alot more than a buyer.
Im actually an ebay seller and recently was involved in a dispute where one of my buyers said he never got his package. I provided the tracking info to paypal and I won the case. I dont know if the guy was lying or what but yeah. It actually hasn't been that bad for me yet.
And this is why paypal needs to be considered a bank

That's probably what they'd want to happen and they would be able to rip people off legally.

Actually they charged me $1 every time the transaction failed when I tried buying a game.
Not even joking
I haven't used Paypal in years and I don't regret a thing.
Google has been my savior for a while now.
I'm working for a smaller payment service provider similar to PayPal here in Finland and it just baffles me how this kind of things are thought through there.
PayPal definitely isn't a favourite amongst web shop owners, but still often allows the widest range of credit card payment methods with a reasonable price.
I have had a really bad experience with paypal/ebay. I found that they always side with the buyer, no matter what.
Once I sold my SNES on ebay, the guy said it wasn't the one from the picture. I only had one, it's not like I just have a ton of super nintendo in my closet. After he admitted that it was the one from the picture he then said that the video cable didn't work, which it did. So I ponied up and sent him another one. By this time I was actually in the hole on this transaction, and he then said that the entire console was broken. I escalated the case to paypals arbitration, which then told me I had to pay for him to ship it back to me. He shipped me a different, broken console and I was out my SNES, two cables, and my money. Paypal has no recourse after arbitration.

I'd use Google Wallet but almost no online shops support it and it seems you can only add money to it using a credit card, which I don't have.
In germany you can attach your bank account directly to your paypal account, so the money goes from your bank account directly through paypal; my paypal account always has a balance of 0 USD :v:
Doesn't paypal allow you to do the same for receiving money? Transferring it directly to your bank account as soon as you received a certain amount?
I haven't had any real bad experiences with Paypal. Except once.
I remember reading that Elon Musk left several ideas with the buyers of Paypal, none which were taken into consideration.
I know they've fucked over the developer of Factorio before, too. They're a horrible company.

This is why I don't put any money on PayPal itself.
I just have it for eBay and if I need to borrow or send a bit of cash to people.
It's also the only way you can pay in some places, but you can just pay straight from your card through it. So it's all good I guess.
But I really don't trust them with actually having a PayPal balance.
Fucking cunts. How fucking dare they pull this stunt. AGAIN.
Paypal are acting like babies. AGAIN. They're not entitled to mess around with any of this money, which people put up TO THE DEVS out of their own free will, as an investment into the projects they're funding.
They're acting as proprietors under the guise of security, which they have practically no right to do.
IMO it's time for Paypal to plz go. They've monopolised the online transactions industry for too long and done shit like this for just as long.
