When he refused to buy another $12 ticket, off-duty police moonlighting as security guards allegedly tackled him in an attempt to eject him from his seat. Saylor said when the mall officers pulled Ethan from his seat he panicked and then screamed for his mother. An hour later, the young man was dead from "asphyxiation by homicide," according to the medical examiner's report. And now Saylor, 23, wants some answers about what happened to her older brother. "It was unreal," said Saylor, who works in affiliate relations for the National Down Syndrome Society. "All we know is he ended up dead. No one expects their brother to go to a movie and not come home." Now, Saylor has filed a petition on change.org calling for a new investigation and better law enforcement training, which has garnered more than 207,000 signatures. She has also asked the Maryland attorney general and governor to reopen the case. "He was always making us laugh and doing something goofy," she said. "Often we would drive to the mountains and do something special together. "The manner of death was determined to be homicide," said Bruce Goldfarb, assistant to the chief ME. Cpl. Jennifer Bailey, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, told the Washington Post that Ethan swore and began kicking and hitting the deputies, who were not in uniform.
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/syndrome-man-movies-ends-morgue/story?id=20046376
What the everliving fuck
What the shit?
Why did they want him to buy another ticket?
enjoy never getting hired again you sack of shit
why the fuck would you start strangling a guy for not having a ticket
Why did they want him to buy another ticket?
He may have tried to sit through the credits into the next movie. It's utterly ridiculous that they let this happen though. How do you kill someone as a mall cop, let alone suffocate them?
why the fuck would you start strangling a guy for not having a ticket
well it said he started attacking the officers but still, i don't know how that made them have to strangle him like that
well it said he started attacking the officers but still, i don't know how that made them have to strangle him like that
And besides, unless he pulled out a gun, there's NO reason to use that much of a force unless your life was in a credible and grave danger.
well it said he started attacking the officers but still, i don't know how that made them have to strangle him like that
I'm not sure if I believe that, for some reason.
he stayed in the theater after the credits and tried to sit through to the next movie im sure he had no idea he was doing anything wrong [editline]24th August 2013[/editline] here its all here https://www.change.org/petitions/justice-for-ethan-governor-martin-o-malley-we-need-an-independent-investigation-and-training-for-police?alert_id=rwTJzWGHBa_AGwnYFJwQp&utm_campaign=31925&utm_medium=email&utm_source=action_alert
Interested to see if his murderer faces any consequences. Police who commit crimes sometimes get covered for actually, they usually get covered for. But not always, thank goodness
I'm not sure if I believe that, for some reason.
thats some crap you make up after you kill someone and start freaking out "oh shit OH SHIT OH SHITTTTTTT" "HE STARTED IT"
I hate that this happened but I get the distinct feeling there's something we're missing. I'm most likely being over-optimistic in thinking that these sort of disgustingly violent people don't exist.
I'm sure there's something we're missing, think about this logically, why would security guards murder a mentally disabled person for no reason, that literally makes no sense at all (unless they were mentally unstable)
I hate that this happened but I get the distinct feeling there's something we're missing. I'm most likely being over-optimistic in thinking that these sort of disgustingly violent people don't exist.
I feel like that too. Might sound a bit callous, but I think it might have been too easy for the article writer to paint the cop as some sort of monster who kills the mentally handicapped because he can. You'd have to be some sort of psycho to strangle someone to death over not having a ticket.

Being a good man doesn't mean you always do good. Even good men can do bad. Something DOES feel off, yes.
I feel like that too. i think we're missing something
thats some crap you make up after you kill someone and start freaking out "oh shit OH SHIT OH SHITTTTTTT" "HE STARTED IT"
Honestly I believe it considering the alternative that they decided to murder a mentally disabled kid for no reason, I figure he attacked them, they got him in a head lock or something, and he wouldn't stop fighting so they kept on choking him, but I guess he died or something, probably tired himself out and his brain lost oxygen ultra-hard. I dunno.
i think we're missing something
Maybe, but choking to death is definitely not the optimal option
Why did they want him to buy another ticket?

Ethan, who had Down syndrome, enjoyed the film so much that he decided to go back to his seat for a second showing while his aide went to get the car to take them home. When he refused to buy another $12 ticket, off-duty police moonlighting as security guards allegedly tackled him in an attempt to eject him from his seat.
I dunno.
Part of me is thinking that, part of me is thinking they had a really bad day and just... fucked up really horribly. That or they have some serious, serious mental and anger issues but I doubt that. In the end, we have no idea what the actual story is, unfortunately. So I guess we can just speculate. And in the end, who actually expects to die at a theater, even if it was bad luck, that's seriously messed up. I can't even imagine how angry and depressed the parent(s) feel. Holy shit.
I remember reading about this in FP some year(s) ago.
Why did they want him to buy another ticket?
Because he went back into the theater to watch the movie again while his aid was doing something in the car.
this story is like 6-7 months old http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/man-down-syndrome-loved-police-died-police-custody-183111733.html
The fact these officers got off for it is disgusting.

Its also strange that the grand jury decided not to prosecute the officers involved in the death.
Strange that Abc news would release an article about it now. Its also strange that the grand jury decided not to prosecute the officers involved in the death.
this isnt about it happening its about the after effects of it happening
Strange that Abc news would release an article about it now.
