Jim Carrey, star of Kick-Ass 2, has withdrawn support for the film following the Sandy Hook massacre. Carrey tweeted on Sunday: "I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. "My apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart," he added. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23027684
Seems like a grab for attention.
pff what a stupid thing to do
Well Jim Carrey has recently turned into one of those We're all children of the world who need to love one another, Maaaan types. This isn't surprising. People act like there weren't killings or horrible atrocities before entertainment, and ignore the fact that crime and violence has dropped by half since 1990, and that the 1930's were the most violent in America as far as violent gun crime is concerned...

yep not having violent movies will show people that violence is bad, maaan.
lol does he think anyone who was involved in sandy hook gives two shits about what he thinks of a movie that's already been released
what an absolute twat
Jim Carrey is a talentless hack anyways.
I reckon maybe something else about the movie or his contract for it was at fault and he chose to make a grab for attention by coming out with this.
People need to stop treating actors like role models. I have great respect for Jim Carrey as an actor and comedian, but I wouldn't take moral advice from him for that reason. He's been a pretty active voice in the whole anti-vaccination debate, but that doesn't affect his value as an actor. You don't take financial advice from your therapist or medical advice from your grocer, so why get mad when an actor makes a statement that has nothing to do with acting. I realize that this statement did in a sense have to do with his acting career, but it is nevertheless an ideological statement, and ideological statements from actors should be treated with the same measure of respect as piano lessons from a platypus.

Besides, violence and crime has been in decline ever since forever, pretty much. But a burst of violence happening within a very brief time by a single gunman, it's.. different.
Reminds me of what Channing Tatum says about taking part in G.I. Joe movie. He rejected it at first because it promotes violence. This have got to be the most ignorant thing I've ever heard.

People tend to believe in what people in the spotlight say. When someone like Jim Carrey, who has access to media channels and millions of people, defends something as stupid and dangerous as anti-vaccination that is relayed to his millions of fans, while people defending vaccination do not have such an opportunity. If he causes even one person to rethink vaccination that is a horrible thing. It is more about the accessibility to information compared to the media presence of celebrities. Regarding this piece of news though, I don't care at all. I lost all respect I had for Jim Carrey after his vaccination comments, even though I think he is quite talented as an actor.
Jim Carrey is a talentless hack anyways.
Get out. Watch The Truman Show and say that again.

Not necessarily the sandy hook thing but things promoting anti-vaccination is very irresponsible and fucking stupid. To some degree he should be held up to them. People tend to listen when someone like an actor says something, they really need to be held responsible for what they say.
Jim Carrey is a talentless hack anyways.
his personal opinions do not invalidate his talent (Tom Cruise is also very talented, despite being off his rocker)
well, donate your paycheck then, be consistent
Get out. Watch The Truman Show and say that again.
That and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'
no matter how talented he is, I can't take a person who thinks vaccinations cause autism and a multitude of mental disabilitie seriously.
Why do actors feel compelled to comment on things they clearly don't know about?

After he did this I really don't care for him or what he does anymore.

He's a vegan supporter of PETA, anti vaccine, and pro gun control. I'm ashamed for my country because of this knob.
Why do actors feel compelled to comment on things they clearly don't know about?
because actors are humans and humans have personal opinions on all sorts of topics? while i dont agree with his opinion, its his personal opinion a guy feels bad for making a violent film about violent children, he has kids, and all this after hearing about recent shootings he never said violent movies caused the shooting, he just doesnt personally like that depiction of violence nice job turning this thread into personally attacking jim carrey because he says he doesnt support violence [editline]24th June 2013[/editline]
He's a vegan supporter of PETA, anti vaccine, and pro gun control. I've decided I will stop caring about the personal life of actors. Carrey just disappoints me sometimes. I will just keep in mind he means well.
Didn't he realise that violence existed before sandy hook happened or what?
