• Vinyl vs Cassette?

I'm sure that there's plenty of you out there in the "classic format" clubs such as vinyl and cassette. However, which one do you consider to be "better" in terms of listening?
i dont collect either but i have no idea why casette could be considered better other than portability, but we have digital for that now, so in my opinion vinyl wins
each format has their benefits and issues.. the majority of records are far superior to the digital master, cassettes are ok. Cassettes need a good clean player to get a nice sound out of, otherwise it'll be muddy and distorted. Not an expert on either but they're both great.
Vinyl is better, but cassettes are still cool.
Why would anyone prefer cassettes to vinyl? Like ever?
Why would anyone prefer cassettes to vinyl? Like ever?
can't play records in cars ;)
The only thing cassettes have is novelty. The sound quality of a cassette is objectively worse than any proper vinyl release. Doesn't make them not cool cause they're sturdy music bricks that have sometimes neat packaging that's usually pretty affordable to mass produce.

Cassettes are nothing but a gimmick for hipsters these days
Cassettes are nothing but a gimmick for hipsters these days
Or, you know, the other practical uses such as being able to offer your music on an affordable physical medium. But you're probably right, it's just for hipster cred.
Why would anyone prefer cassettes to vinyl? Like ever?
because they sound cool nothing else sounds like a tape
comparing tape to vinyl is foolish tbh. even though they're both analogue they each have their own unique quality.
I think it depends the type of music in many cases.
Why would anyone prefer cassettes to vinyl? Like ever?
Some cars still rock tape decks.
Cassettes are unique in quality AND as they get older they make some very interesting anomalies due to their magnetism weakening or just the tape itself rotting away. It's a very interesting format for very interesting noises. Planning for Burial releases on tape mostly because its cheap but also because of the imperfectness of the format and its dwindling condition.
