I’ll say I think there are very few people that actually buy a game twice, once on PC, once on console. Spencer went on to say that while he’s not sure if the Play Anywhere incentive has helped sales of titles such as Forza Horizon 3 or Recore, for example, early word is people are “using the feature and finding it useful, which is great.”
Sources: VGChartz VG247
Definitely my favorite thing that Microsoft's done in the last several years. Cross-platform co-op with friends is great
This is really a big battle of consumer vs publisher interest. Xbox is doing great things for consumers with the backwards compatibility and this play anywhere thing, but I think there are still some publishers out there that don't like that this will reduce their prospect of selling the same stuff several times. If I read correctly on Playstation Now you can play older titles and emulate them, but you actually have to buy them even if you already own them ?

Seems like this time they actually are trying to work with PC gamers
I bought Gears 4 on windows 10 and on a whim got my girlfriend to sign in on her xbox and download it using my account, she's now able to sign in on her account and play the game online with me, cross platform without even needing to buy it. I like this play anywhere thing, a lot. :v:

Does that work via something like "family sharing" ?

I have my Xbox account tied to my brother and my father's XBOX accounts under the family settings and when I purchased Gears of War 4 on the Windows Store, they received the game for their Xbox consoles.

I need to try that.

I thought these things were implemented so that when one person is playing it it blocks the other ones, since it is only one purchased copy of the game that is shared ?

I played a few rounds of co-op with him. I'm guessing when the game is transferred to his console, the Xbox One marks it as "his" own copy of the game instead of mine, hence the ability to play together.
Playing forza on my pc with my brother on the Xbox is a wonderful thing
