I'm not sure I like the combat. It looks like every battle you go into, your fleet is either going to be strong enough to win, or it isn't. Very binary. No strategy or orders or tactics. Everything else looks awesome though
Speaking of, have more Stellaris with the misadventures of passive-aggressive space fungus!

However, if it is inspired by games like Crusader Kings then I imagine there will be commanders and traits which will make combat a little bit less predictable and on top of that I feel like combat will not be the focus of the game (again like in Crusader Kings).
afaik combat is decided around strategic decisions like what your ships are fitted with vs the other guys. What the commander traits are like, location and other such factors. Very much like EU4

The combat is always binary, you either win or loose but the strategic combat elements are outside of battles. Picking the right army composition together with the right general to lead your troops. The meat of a Paradox game is rarely the combat, it's generally what exists outside of the combat. Such as diplomacy and conquest in EU4 and character/dynasty building in CK2. Same seems to be true for Stellaris. If you want a strategy game focused on combat you should just go for the Total War series.
