Does anyone else like these films? To the uninformed, they're basically these fluffy historical adventure stories with lots of swordplay and romance. The golden age of this genre was in the 30s, 40s, and maybe early 50s, but some have occasionally been made since then, for example the POTC trilogy (I kind of like the first one, the sequels not so much), and the two Zorro films with Antonio Banderas.
Anyway, here are some of the (IMO, of course) better ones from the golden age of the genre, along with their trailers and IMDB site:

Sadly, the only one I've seen was Robin Hood. I liked it, nevertheless.
The mask of zorro and potc.
I guess it doesn't matter if it's relatively new.
I heard about the name ivanhoe somehow.
Needs more Muppet Treasure Island.
There's a reason they stopped making these.
People don't like to see fairies prancing around in tights whilst poking people with a flimsy piece of metal.

That's the romanticized version. Gritty swashbucklers would be fucking awesome.
Cutthroat Island? I know everyone hated it but me though

Yeah yeah the bandwagon is to hate it, but the swordplay is great.

Why would anyone hate Hook? It was great!

If you want to see a gritty swashbuckler, I really have to recommend Prince of Foxes. It has a morally complex hero (relatively at least), some atmospheric use of B&W photography (the whole film feels like a Film Noir/Swashbuckler hybrid), and a great villain performance by Orson Welles in the role of Cesare Borgia.
Another rather gritty one would be Franklin Schaffner's The War Lord (1965), a great film which I forgot to mention in the OP. This one really feels a lot more medieval than most movies about the middle ages, and is also relatively melancholy for a swashbuckler.

Neither of these is like really, really dark, but might be worth checking out.
Then there of course is Robin and Marian (1976), which is a rather tragic reintrepretation of the Robin Hood legend. It deals with an aging Robin Hood returning to England, trying to restore his past glory as the defender of the poor. I'm not even sure if this really counts as a swashbuckler (which is why it's not in the OP), but I highly recommend it. In many ways it's like a refutation of the swashbuckler mythos, kinda like what the spaghetti westerns were to traditional westerns.
Been looking for more films like Zorro. OP is full of feathered hat , sword fencing, vigilante heroics win.
The Errol Flynn Robin Hood movie is actually really entertaining.
