Nick Clegg, the UK's pro-EU deputy prime minister faces off against Nigel Farage, leader of the ascendant Eurosceptic party UKIP, in a no-holds-barred Battle Royale with cheese http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-26737934
Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage are set to debate the UK's place in the European Union live on radio. The deputy prime minister challenged the UKIP leader to a debate in the run-up to May's European elections. Mr Clegg, who says his Liberal Democrats are the "party of in", argues that even threatening to leave the EU risks millions of British jobs. Mr Farage says leaving the EU will give the UK control of its borders, but it will continue to trade with Europe. Following negotiations between the two party leaders and broadcasters, two one-hour debates have been arranged. The first is being hosted by the LBC radio station from 19:00 GMT. On 2 April, round two will be televised live at the same time on BBC Two.
The YouTube stream is apparently unavailable in Germany. If it's blocked you can listen in through LBC radio online, which I think works worldwide.
This isn't going to be debate, this is going to be a Cleggxecution. http://youtubedoubler.com/?video1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Di6hy8KyedJA&start1=&video2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D20Xxfl0pAAQ&start2=21&authorName=snoopsagan
And this has caught my curiosity, i think I'll be watching.
Bastard Clegg, I'm for the EU but I don't want to side with treacherous lying scum what do I dooo </3
I won't be surprised if Farage is chugging down a beer during the debate.
It's starting!!!
I swear parliament has no obligation to actually go through with a referendum.
This is the least 'balanced' audience ever. There's a lone black couple sitting in the middle and everyone else is white and over 30. No wonder can Farage stand there doomsaying about immigration to a room full of people like that, that's not a remotely fair representation of the UK.
Farage talking about work permits was quite interesting
This doesn't seem very balanced. Clegg is constantly put on the back foot by the moderator of the debate and is constantly told to hurry up by him while Farage mutters in the background and Clegg is told to give way to Farage, and yet the he doesn't care how long Farage talks for.
Environmental Cost of Wind Turbines wtf
Nick Clegg thinking that Same sex partnerships were unlawful. Obviously confusing Christian Marriage and Civil Partnerships.
Dat raucous applause for gay marriage
This debate is not the best I have ever seen. They talk over each other too much. Sure I understand that they both want to get their points across, and at the same time discrediting one another, but it comes to a point where it's just two old men brainlessly speaking over one another, EVEN THOUGH they are agreeing with each other. Time to form the Facepunch Political Party!
IMO Nick Clegg got smashed
Nigel Farge is a true English gentleman.
Clegg's attempt to barrage the Farage appears to have failed, at least in round one http://yougov.co.uk/news/2014/03/26/Nigel-Farage-performed-better-first-eu-debate/ It will be interesting to see what effect this has on views about the EU, which have recently been getting surprisingly positive
I never thought I'd say this but, Fair play to Farage to actually answering the question on trust whereas Clegg kind of skirted round it. Still roll on Round Two!
I never thought I'd say this but, Fair play to Farage to actually answering the question on trust whereas Clegg kind of skirted round it. Still roll on Round Two!
Nigel Farage is probably one of the best politicians in the UK right now, he seriously fights for what he cares about. He also actually answers questions when asked which is quite surprising. Despite the fact that I disagree with pretty much every single thing him and his party stands for I really like the fact that he is one of my MEPs.
Although Farage is certainly well-spoken, I still have a strong dislike for UKIP as it stands today, and as it probably shall stand forevermore considering their 'gimmick' is something I fundamentally disagree with.
The entire debate was essentially Farage making shit up while Clegg stood there with his hands in his pockets looking stressed.

these kind of debates are too easy for someone in farage's position compared to milliband, clegg, and cameron, he's on the outside of the system. his party has never been in power and they've never had to make a tough decision. he's also arguing against history and foresight. so he can just stand there and say "yeh well you guys are always saying stuff like that" and then follow it up with any sort of claim he wants you may as well put russel brand, or better yet, bez, up there because they'd be in relatively the same position of control in the debate
Its a shame UKIP is made up of racist old white dudes huh Farage While he may have won this debate I give it a week before a high ranking member of his party talks about bongo bongo land or sluts or something.
I only saw the part of the debate where Farage quoted the 75% and 80% of new laws are influenced by the EU, then Nick quoted 7%. 7% came from government figures. 75% came from ukip estimates (pulled from thin air) 80% came from an estimate in germany Farage is a manipulative cunt, instead of arguing properly he worked on making the audience laugh and used made up figures. Nick might be spineless but Farage is a poisonous snake appealing to all the wrong values in people. I really hope he get nowhere in the next election.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-26761258 Clegg is "shocked" at Farage's stance on Ukraine.
