Political chaos roiled oil-rich Venezuela Friday after intelligence agents in the socialist government of President Nicolas Maduro arrested the mayor of Caracas. The arrest came just days after Maduro accused the mayor of involvement in a plot to overthrow the government. Agents arrested Mayor Antonio Ledezma -- a well-known opposition politician -- on Thursday in a raid that sparked a fierce outcry from the president's political opponents. President Nicolas Maduro said the mayor will be prosecuted "so that he answers for all of the crimes committed against the peace, security and constitution of our country." In a televised address, Maduro said Caracas Mayor Antonio Ledezma was captured by order of the Attorney General's Office. A high-level Venezuelan military source with knowledge of the situation told CNN en Español the mayor was taken into custody because of his alleged involvement in a plot to overthrow the government an accusation Maduro leveled last week. Ledezma denied it, calling it the government's latest attempt to manufacture controversy and target political opponents.
http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/19/americas/venezuela-caracas-mayor/index.html
Well we won't be seeing him again
Socialists can't endure any diverging political views AT ALL holy shit, during elections our president re-elected kept saying that the opposition wanted to do a "coup" and she still wants to "regulate" the media[ to ensure "better democracy" South America under the Foro de São Paulo rule is becoming such a democratic shithole holy shit
our media is hilariously one-sided and fucked up, i know you think brazil is going to become venezuela 2.0 but that's absurd considering how many brazilians see socialism/communism in a worst light than even americans do lol, fuck, PT isn't even socialist, they're center-left at most. and the opposition did start whining about how the elections were rigged, and we had quite a few retards ASKING for dictatorship/saying the military should intervene.
That seems pretty big. The news has been dead about Venezuela I wonder how imminent their collapse really is.

Better you than us I guess. But then again we have the Nisman affair...
Nearly 20 years of the Bolivarian revolution has led to the country of Venezuela coming close to complete and utter collapse.
