No, but an Orlando man said he was arrested because officers mistook glaze from the doughnuts for drugs during a traffic stop.Orlando police officers stopped Daniel Rushing, 64, for going 42 in a 30-mile-an-hour zone in December. Earlier, the officers observed Rushing go into a store twice without making purchases and became suspicious. In a report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, police spotted what Rushing said were leftovers from Krispy Kreme doughnuts he eats once a week. “I observed in plain view a rock like substance on the floor board where his feet were," the officer wrote. "I recognized, through my eleven years of training and experience as a law enforcement officer, the substance to be some sort of narcotic.”
USA Today
The officers did two roadside drug tests and both came back positive for the illegal substance, according to his arrest report.
Orlando Sentinel
Well if the feild test comes back positive for illegal drugs, they're not going to not arrest him. People lie all the time about substances found in their cars. Hell, I just watched an episode of COPS where a chick tried to say morphine in a tiny bottle was water. I don't blame the cop for taking him in, I don't blame him for being upset. It sounds like an unfortunate mistake and it's good later tests cleared him. The justice system worked well in this case. The real problem here is how frequent are feild test false positives, and how often are they caught? Typically from what I've heard, the cop shows the suspect the results of the colored field test and does it in front of them so there's no shenanigans.
This just goes to show that roadside drug tests are complete bullshit and need to be done away with.
I'm really interested in how a field kit works for testing meth, but I can't find anything through searching, just websites for how to avoid detection. :v: [editline]29th July 2016[/editline] What i did learn though is the kits are severely inaccurate.
what is up with everybody thinking that the word is addicting and not addictive these people are journalists for god's sake
addictable
It's cr1tikal, but it's a serious video. Field tests are bullshit.
Field tests can only be so accurate, most are just a single chemical test that will fire off if it detects a narcotic but it'll also get triggered by a load of other shit, the need for a chunky machine or a longer process to prove its actually narcotic substance can't exactly be done on the roadside so compromises are made. Its like breathalysers, they do detect alcohol but they also detect other things and some will trigger even if theres no alcohol in your breath, thats why they take you in then get you tested on something more specialized for the purpose to prove it. Only so much can be done on the side of the road.
hell even regular drug tests they give are bullshit. my p.o. gave me a drug test and said it was positive for thc. i went to the doctor the same day after that meeting and had a second drug test done at the hospital and that came back as being negative for thc. too bad those results didnt come in the mail until 2 days after i was already sentenced to jail for this supposed violation. i still dont understand why they couldnt just print me the results the same day but thems the rules they said.
Here's the video crit is talking about, it's a better resource than crit himself: These tests are so bullshit that they shouldn't even be grounds for arrests. A simple taste test would be more accurate.
You'd think that a cop of all people would know what donut glaze looked like.
