WASHINGTON — Senator Thad Cochran, an octogenarian Republican from Mississippi, announced Monday that he is resigning from the Senate on April 1 because of ill health — a decision that will create two Senate races in his home state this November. “I regret my health has become an ongoing challenge,” Mr. Cochran said in a statement. “I intend to fulfill my responsibilities and commitments to the people of Mississippi and the Senate through the completion of the 2018 appropriations cycle, after which I will formally retire from the U.S. Senate.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/05/us/politics/thad-cochran-retire-senate.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2018/03/05/sen-cochran-r-miss-to-resign-after-4-decades-in-congress-vacating-post-as-appropriations-chair-and-setting-up-special-election/?utm_term=.3d9df71165be https://www.politico.com/story/2018/03/05/cochran-to-resign-april-1-437126
good, we don't need any more octa or septa or sexagenarians, the senate can on average collect social security these days as it is
I doubt we'll be seeing two Dems take Mississippi in November. Alabama was a special case, in which a pedophile that the GOP didn't even like, took the primary. That may not and probably will not be the case in this state.
Mobilize the working class and minorities in that state and it might be possible.
I'm not 10000000% certain that a Republican will win, but I do believe that it's more likely than not.

The cpac convention had a woman who was a republican stand up and ask why they didn't denounce him based on the credible accusations and she was shouted down with cries of fake news and "did nothing wrong" and similar things. The Republican Party is in its death thrawls as it goes further and further right alienating its own members.

I don't know if they care or not Moore is a pedo, they just want to win seats.

They have bet EVERYTHING on Trump, look at their class of wiz kids, they've all been perminently destroyed by trump. Rubio is too damaged by his centerism and disdain for trump, Cruz is too damaged because he has flip flopped on Trump, Ryan is gone if they loose the gavel, and what young talent do they have left then? Rand Paul maybe but since they've become the trump base, they either run another trump, something that will be much harder as the old old, incredibly old saying goes "fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, ya ain't gonna fool me again!"
