A man has been killed in a shooting at a weigh-in for a World Boxing Organization (WBO) title fight in the Republic of Ireland. Two other men were injured in the incident at Dublin's Regency Hotel at about 14:30 local time on Friday. It is understood the gunmen were dressed as police officers and armed with AK47 assault rifles.
Video of when the shooting began, no gore, you just hear the shots. So terrorist attack?
So terrorist attack?
Could be the IRA, could be other terrorists, we'll have to wait and see Edit: Though I don't see why terrorists would choose to shoot up a boxing weigh in when they could just cause more damage during the actual event. Maybe security was more lax
Jesus Christ that video was crazy and everyone ducking and shit. Hope they catch the guys, I wouldn't be surprised if it was IRA though
Could be the IRA, could be other terrorists, we'll have to wait and see
Could also very well be organised criminal activity. The boxing world in general is pretty corrupt and it wouldn't be surprising to find out that Irish organised crime has more than a few hands in Irish boxing
They should let the Conor MacGregor looking guy in the superman underwear have a whack at them if they apprehend them.
Could be the IRA

It is understood the gunmen were dressed as police officers and armed with AK47 assault rifles.
I haven't heard of the IRA disguising as Police Officers before only civilian jobs such as mail men
Most likely gangland related
you never hear of stuff like this over here, people going around with assault rifles, any time there's a shooting its a handgun/shotgun not an ak
So terrorist attack?
The article specifically says it's gang violence. Probably something to do with illegal betting if I had to guess.
Could be the IRA, could be other terrorists, we'll have to wait and see
I'd doubt it'd be the IRA, they're too busy trying to bomb us up here across the border than worry about boxing.
I haven't heard of the IRA disguising as Police Officers before only civilian jobs such as mail men
wow disguised as police officers? sounds like some hit squad type of shit to assassinate somebody
Police officers with Kalashnikovs though? Uniform or not, that's a huge red flag.
Police officers with Kalashnikovs though? Uniform or not, that's a huge red flag.
Police officers with guns in general is a pretty big red flag in Ireland. It's kinda insane that these guys were carrying AK's around in the middle of Dublin. Also, gotta admit, seeing everyone jump to "IRA" is pretty funny considering they've been almost a non-factor for about 15 years. There's the very occasional bomb found in or around Belfast that gets disarmed, but they're a lot less prolific than people seem to think, thankfully. Unfortunately, they've just been replaced/become a bunch of gangs instead of fucking off entirely.
you never hear of stuff like this over here, people going around with assault rifles, any time there's a shooting its a handgun/shotgun not an ak
...How often is that, exactly?
...How often is that, exactly?
Shootings make the news maybe a dozen times a year, first time I've seen this sort of hardware though.
The shooting was a gangland retaliatory attack and a hit all in one. The weapons, Romanian AK's are probably ex-IRA bought and sold on the black market.
That's just about the most conspicuous "disguise" I can imagine, unless it's normal in Ireland for police to patrol dressed like they're about to go on a raid. Which I somehow doubt.
...How often is that, exactly?
not that often?
So it turns out it was the continuity IRA, they are now targeting criminal gangs and drug dealers ironically after they decided to kill one of their members. I was thinking those rifles looked familiar.

Quite surprising to see the (continuity) IRA behind this. It makes some sense, though, given how well-equipped the shooters were.

[editline]8th February 2016[/editline] It still blows my mind how well equipped the groups are

[editline]8th February 2016[/editline] It still blows my mind how well equipped the groups are
When I was growing up in Derry they had a scheme called RAAD (Republican Action Against Drugs) They would often get informants to tell them about drug dealers then roll up and dish out punishment beatings, or they might simply knee cap the dealer and leave him there. It was all terribly violent but I can't say I pitied the dealers much.
cIRA war on drugs? More like destroying the competition.
