It was not cancelled due to poor viewership:
Less than 24 hours after Ford Nation’s record-breaking premiere, Sun News has cancelled the show, hosted by embattled Mayor Rob Ford and his brother, Doug. Sun News Network vice-president Kory Teneycke confirmed Tuesday that the show was cancelled, after only one episode. Ford Nation was the “biggest night ever for Sun News, by a country mile,” Teneycke told the Star in an email. It attracted 155,000 viewers for its first airing, 45,000 more during a Western Canadian repeat and was downloaded an additional 65,000 times from the network’s website, he said. Until Monday, Sun News’ ratings record was 100,000 viewers for Fight Night.
Why was it cancelled? Um...
Despite its success, the show was cancelled due to cost concerns caused by the Fords’ inexperience in television. Teneycke confirmed that taping the one-hour show took five hours, and it required another eight hours to edit. While there’s “no more stand-alone show,” Teneycke wrote, the network would “welcome the Fords as regular guests on other programming.”
:v:
dear god how bad do you have to be to take 5 hours to film and 8 more to edit.... just put a good producer on the show to keep the time-allotment budgeted right and keep the stars in their place

Back in the day radio used to be live.
If it's a radio show, then why does it attract viewers? Shouldn't it be listeners?
I thought it would be cancelled because immediately after the show a reporter came on and pointed out every single one of Ford's blatant lies. Like how he got the biggest majority vote in Canadian history. Or how he's saved a billion dollars, or how he says he has perfect council attendance, and so on and so forth.

And when he gets smashed drunk, he likes to go on frothy ranting tirades with death threats against his enemies, and he likes to smoke crack. Until he admitted to smoking crack after months of denials, he and his brother, City Councillor Doug Ford, had a weekly radio show with a Toronto radio station. That show was cancelled. He was signed up for a TV show on Sun News Network, a conservative Canadian cable TV channel. His one-hour show was cancelled after the first episode due to the difficulty in production. Sun isn't quite Fox, just because they're right wing doesn't mean they lie and bullshit like Fox does.
Sun isn't quite Fox, just because they're right wing doesn't mean they lie and bullshit like Fox does.
Thus the scare quotes instead of just flatly calling them Fox News North. I would prefer Sun over Fox any day, don't get me wrong. I have to say that I've never been so proud of the CRTC (except for maybe these denying Sun common carriage and the cable channel bundle breaking things lately) as when they denied Fox News a spot up here due to Fox News' reliance on exploiting loopholes in the US's journalism and broadcast regulations to get their lies and bullshit onto the air.
I actually think Sun should have gotten common carriage.
I actually think Sun should have gotten common carriage.
Just as I expected you would. I think we can agree on the subject of Fox News, at least.

Aww man! How else am I gonna hear about the Gravy Train now?
